Room 2 Whare Pi
I've created this page to help keep our lines of communication open between R2 and home. Keep an eye out for updates from me. :-)
Hi there! We will be having a shared morning tea on Monday, as the children thought it fitting we celebrate yet another birthday of mine. So sweet. π
Nothing fancy - just an excuse to have a little celebration with a great bunch of kids.
EDIT: they want it to be a pyjama day. π
Today we say goodbye to Miss Campbell, our student teacher. The five weeks have flown by! Good luck and best wishes, we will miss you! Room 2 π
Hi Everyone! I hope your cherubs are excited about our trip to Snow Planet tomorrow! Remember, waterproof pants, jackets and gloves are highly, highly recommended and may be hired at Snow Planet. Children must hold onto their money (in a zip pocket or bag) to pay for this at Snow Planet. Remember also that our lunches are provided, so just bring snacks and water (snacks may be eaten on the bus on the way down and home but no lollies please!). I'll see everyone in the morning!
All the children in R2 have decided on their Bee themed Inquiry Question. Some are working independently and others in pairs. Please ask them what their question is and over the next few weeks they will be researching the answers/facts related to their questions and creatively displaying their findings in preparation for our big Bee Expo in Week 9.
I would like to welcome student teacher Kerry Campbell to our class. She is in her second year of studies and here for 5 weeks. :-)
Wonderful, wonderful Bee Projects! Thank you for your support at home! πππππππ
I'm Beeeeeehappy!
Our first home project hit our classroom this morning! Congratulations Isaac Toovey! Looking forward to seeing them all trickle in this week and proudly displaying them!
Home Bee Project.
Yes, children are allowed to use devices to do their work on (and print) and yes they can cut the paper, add fabrics/other materials/3-D whatever! You know I love creation! In saying all that, if it's done simply but neat and proud, I'll be happy with that too. I appreciate your support at home.

Had an absolute blast with the Y6 kids today, as they learnt the ropes of sailing. I was so proud of them. Y5 will have their chance at the end of the year. Did you know that the Marsden Yacht Club run kids sailing on Sundays at 10am (and Monday evenings at 5pm over the Summer months)?
Hi Parents and Caregivers,
On Tuesday I will be sending home a 'Bees' homework project. It will be the only 'major' homework project for the term and I look forward to seeing how the children go with it. They will have just under 2 weeks to complete the project and may need a little encouragement to pace themselves and do a little bit each day. It's defintely not a 'one night' project. Families are welcome to help out and learn together. I hope it will be enjoyable, rather than laborious!
Thanks
Keryn :-)
PS Y6's remember we are sailing tomorrow. (except Tyde and Joshua, who will be sailing on Thursday).
I've found around 6 minutes of Mindfulness every afternoon after lunch calms the class down, clears their thoughts and sets them up for the last hour of the school day. Painting is also a winner when it comes to a calming activity. Today we learnt about the colour wheel and had a go at tinting and shading a primary or secondary colour. Wonderful effort!
Have a great weekend. KβΊοΈ
Happy St Paddy's Day!
Hi families and children of R2. I've been away for two days as I've had an ear infection, which made me very tired! π back tomorrow. βΊοΈ
A few pics of R2 learning partnerships. Writing warm up sentences using character, setting, incident, object, action. Good learning and fun too.
Super Students
Your child may have told you that Mrs Riley and I are unpacking the Super Student Award with the whole R2/R3 group this term. We are exploring what it means to be a 21st Century Learner. We have told the children that they WILL be rewarded for displaying learning values after we have explored what it all means. The children are realising that sitting quietly, listening to the teacher, being good, being kind and doing what the teacher says are (while 'nice') not quite as important as being CURIOUS, being RESILIENT, being ORGANISED, working COLLABORATIVELY in a group, being PERSISTENT and having CONFIDENCE. Please rest assured that your child knows how much their teacher values them and will be rewarded for life-long learning qualities that they display. Have a great weekend. :-)
