A forum to share the things I make!
I recently tried my hand at a new craft: Glass fusing, and had a super chilled out afternoon. Picked up the results yesterday and they are now proudly placed in the conservatory picking up the evening sun! If you live near Bath I'd recommend giving it a go... π₯°
I've not done an update for a while, but I've just caught up on my doodling after my holiday so I thought I'd share it. I have two months left to do. Still really enjoy doing it every day and it's like a gratitude journal where you have to think about something positive even when it's done nothing but pour with rain! I might end up having to go past September 9th to make sure it's completely filled, but I'll keep going until it is!
I spend half my life sat on the sofa either sewing or crocheting, I'm forever losing my scissors and one day I'm going to sit on a needle! So I decided to make myself a little sofa caddy. I did some English paper piecing patchwork and came up with a little tool station that can keep all my essentials including a little detachable thread bin so I don't leave a trail of threads everywhere! Quite pleased with the result! π¬
I had such a lot of fun over the last few weeks when my friend asked me if I would make a lap quilt for her mum. I'm not usually quite so quick, but this one only took me about two weeks to do and I really really enjoyed playing about with the colours and shapes. It really is one of a kind. π
For those of you that know me, know that I love to travel and I recently made some "Ouch Pouches" to take things like medical supplies and painkillers away on mini trips. On a recent trip away my friend and I decided we needed a little bag to take teabags and coffee etc with us. So after carefully sourcing of some fabric I made a little prototype today. And here it is. π₯°
So my winter project this year was another lap quilt (couldn't post until it was gifted!). Appliqued tulips with machine embroidery. I've not done any machine embroidery before and really liked how it turned out. All of the fabric was ombre effect and I was able to use the different shades to good effect. It was really nice to do something cheerful in the rainy winter months.
Upcycling today. I bought a dress in the sale a few years ago and never wore it as it was too short and the back neckline too low, so I cut the sleeves off and made a sundress! π
365 embroidery update.. Still up to date at 6 months but I'm a bit off with the sizes of them as I should be halfway! I'll just have to keep going until I fill it up. Not fed up with it yet though and I think my doodling is improving!
A couple of new additions to add to my trophy wall! Not perfect by any means but they make me smile. π₯°
New rack for my embroidery threads. Creating a rainbow of colours is good for the soul!
I've decided to work on my patchwork skills this year and bought a remnant of ombre fabric to have a play about with. I definitely need to work on my precision cutting and making sure I sew exactly the same seam allowance on every bit! I love the fabric and colour placement, just can't look too closely at the workmanship!
I've stuck a metre ruler to the edge of my shelf with velcro so I can quickly measure things and take it off if I need to! Simple things please simple minds, but I think it's genius! βΊοΈπ
I remade my sewing room curtains as I wasn't happy with the weight of fabric I chose before. So now I'm happy with them and have the old fabric to play with! I'm thinking I might make some door organisers for the inside of my cupboard to help me to store my patterns... π€
Ending 2023 with a chilli doodle as we're having a homemade curry extravaganza for NYE. This is such a lovely thing to do every day and feels a bit like a gratitude journal, finding something positive in every day (even when it does nothing but rain!)
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2024 π₯
Practicing before I start my new project! π₯°
So my Christmas make this year was a family of Wombles. My mother in law found an original pattern in her cupboard so I made some up!
I've finished all my Christmas sewing so I finally got round to making up a shirt dress that I only cut out in August (not too long ago!!). Lots of top stitching that I did with a variegated thread and it turned out okay! Pattern is Simplicity 8014
I've had such a lovely time making these embroidery baubles this year. I do like chilling out with some hand sewing.
Hope everyone has a good time over the festive period.
Fun sized Β£1 coin purses! I can never lay my hands on a Β£1 coin when I need one so I thought I'd make some fun sized purses to keep in the car! π€
I loved willow weaving so much I couldn't resist doing it again! Thank you . Rudolph is just fabulous!
I'm starting an embroidery journal to mark a personal milestone. A doodle a day.. not sure how I'll get on, but I'll give it a go!
I found a fab picnic basket that I upcycled and filled with wine and cheese for a friend's birthday. Now they have matching napkins and a little knot bag too!
