We are happy to have acquired a collection of wonderful 1850's to 1880's carved Ivory Dieppe Crucifixes from a convent in central France. We are offering them individually on our website.

Large Antique 24" Irish Convent Cross Crucifix - Poly Chrome painted plaster corpus - Irish painted christ - Early 1900's Cross - RC172

An early 1900's example of what is known as a Convent Crucifix acquired from an actual Irish Convent when it closed and the sisters moved to a newer, larger city centre convent. This is a super rare polychrome painted example, we know of no others from this Italian Irish makers.
The polychrome paintwork has been done by a very professional, artistic hand. There are small amounts of loss to the paint on the left cheek, crown of thorns and toe. it had been suspended from the wall via the hanging loop at the top where a new peice of cord has been attached. This item has true beauty that makes this a wonderful crucifix.
The cross itself is made from two solid pieces of stained timber, joined where they meet at the centre. This heavy mahogany stain has given the cross a fine dark coloured grain. The hight of the cross is 24", or 60cm. The width is 12" or 30.5cm and the depth of the wood is 1/2" or just under 2cm. The Body of Christ is just over 13.5" or 34cm long and the outstretched arms reach 9" or 23cm. This is a striking, unusually large and well made piece. The corpus and inure are attached with wire through the cross and bent over. The weight without any packaging is over 1.5lb or 0.65 kg.

Just arrived from a French Convent and currently being cleaned in the workshop for photography. We have four beautiful Antique hand carved Dieppe Crucifixes. Stunning Ivory on wood, some with brass banding. Dating from mid to late 1800's.

A gorgeous vintage, classical item from the renowned Irish Silversmiths Thomas O'Conner & Sons of Dublin - this lovely little solid silver tea caddy spoon is beautiful in its simplicity. Made in Sheffield, it was assayed in Dublin in 1973. With today's rise in interest in the Speciality Teas Market, vintage items like this are once again much sought after and make superb Wedding and Silver Wedding gifts. The spoon measures 3.2" or 79mm long and is 1.45" or 37mm wide at the widest point. It weighs 32 grammes or 1.13oz.
