After ACJ announced he was unable to make it to Morrinsville, his [REDACTED] stable mate William Cutting asked Heathen Combat management for a new partner so he could continue his pursuit of tag team gold. However, the Chosen One was shocked to find out his partner was none other than Spartan, and while the two managed to defeat Bobby Wisheart and Te Kaha to move forward in the tournament, a post-match spear from Spartan showed neither man was happy with the pairing.

Can these two put aside their differences to continue in the tag team tournament?

***MATCH ANNOUNCEMENT***
The Scene A.J. Murtagh vs. Zac Hayle vs. Pariah
Hand Of Fate number one contenders triple threat

A fixture of shows as a referee, A.J. Murtagh finally had enough of wrestlers and fans alike, and following an explosive in-ring promo at Maniacs United, The Scene was born. Taking out his frustrations on Marley Maniac, Murtagh proved he was willing to go to any lengths to win, a mentality that led him to hold the Wrestling Collectibles New Zealand 24/7 title a staggering 18 times. Aligning himself with Troy Daniels, Murtagh surprised many by winning entry into the main event of Legacy Pro Wrestling's first show, nearly becoming the inaugural LPW champion in the process. A.J.'s mouth would finally write a cheque he couldn't cash when, after much taunting, he would meet JayRilla, who would defeat Murtagh and destroy the WCNZ title, before Daniels would turn on his former stablemate.

As one of the best tag team wrestlers in New Zealand alongside partner Kid Nova, Zac Hayle has also proven to be one of the best light heavyweights in the country. One half of the Impact Pro Wrestling Aotearoa Tag Team champions, Hayle has also challenged for singles titles in Maniacs United, Professional Wrestling Entertainment and Unified Championship Wrestling, was a part of the Aotearoa Flyweight championship tournament, as well as previously challenging for the Hand Of Fate when it was held by Ryan Zero. While coming up short to Phoenix Tallion and Horus in the Heathen Combat Tag Title tournament at WrestleFest, Hayle would become a human highlight reel during the Heathen Combat and Deathmatch Downunder Weekend Of Death, winning Australian fans over, and providing one of the biggest moments of the weekend with a huge dive from a scaffold.

The man known as Pariah made his Heathen Combat debut under a different mask and with a different attitude. As the fun loving luchadore El Besto, he faced the likes of Rugged Vic Craig, Grace Lightning and Tommy Fusion, as well as teaming with fellow lucha Barry Burrito as Los Besties. Drawing the ire of Jackson Graves, Fabulance and Victoria Ryan, the group known as F.E.A.R. attacked Besto and put him on the shelf. When the group turned their attention to Frankie Quinn, Besto returned as the rechristened Red Death, Pariah, and defeated Fabulance and Ryan in a handicap match not long after. Coming up short in the Jackson Shield tournament at the final Maniacs United event, Pariah now has his eyes on the Hand Of Fate.

Which of these three men will go on to challenge for the axe, and a chance to control their fate?

***MATCH ANNOUNCEMENT***
JT Hollow vs. Xander Taylor

Going from one of the country's most dangerous to one of its most beloved, JT Hollow has become one of the top wrestlers on the New Zealand scene. Defeating a who's who in Maniacs United, the Voidheart quickly won the Jackson Shield from Kirby, asserting his dominance in the promotion, before Just Plain Evil unseated him for the title. Setting his sights on New Zealand Professional Wrestling champion Rugged Vic Craig, the two faced off in several huge matches, including a triple threat with then One Above All and ICW No Holds Barred American Deathmatch champion 'The Smash Hit' Joel Bateman at Reaper Pro, before Hollow finally defeated the Reaper for the title, becoming the Hero of NZ Wrestling. Going on to become the longest holder of the belt, Hollow would defeat the likes of James Shaw, Liam Erikson, Jamie Tagataese, Spartan, and Vic Craig. Finally losing the belt to Phoenix Tallion, Voidheart has now set his eyes on tag team gold with best friend Tommy Fusion as The Big Adventure, while continuing to make a name for himself in the deathmatch scene following several Australian appearances in Deathmatch Downunder.

Following the old advice of asserting dominance by going straight for the biggest dog in the yard, Xander Taylor immediately made his presence known when it was revealed he was the mystery attacker who took out JT Hollow before the Hughes Academy of Professional Wrestling One Night Tournament. Making his debut in the Hughes Rumble, the two came face to face for the first time, with Hollow eliminating Taylor, before Taylor would return to the ring and cause Hollow's elimination, with the pair brawling to the back. Finally meeting in one-on-one action, Taylor shocked the crowd with a huge win over Hollow, albeit due to an uncovered turnbuckle. The celebration of his victory has been short-lived, however, as Hollow has called out the youngster to face him again and right the wrong of their previous encounter.

The feud between the Voidheart and the Limit Breaker comes to Heathen Combat, but who will reign supreme when they face off in Morrinsville?

***MATCH ANNOUNCEMENT***
Bobby Wisheart & Te Kaha vs. [REDACTED] (ACJ & William Cutting)
Tag Team championship first round match

No strangers to tag team competition, both Bobby Wisheart and Te Kaha have proven themselves to be more than adept in their own rights. One half of The Flavour alongside Dev Kyro, Bobby Wisheart has been making a name for himself across the country, recently winning the Hughes Academy of Professional Wrestling Rumble match, but coming up short against champion Spartan. Meanwhile, Te Kaha reigned as one half of the Maniacs United New Zealand Professional Wrestling tag team champions The Taniwha Atrocities with Charybdis. After losing the titles to Nu Blood, the former Hybrid turned his attention to the Jackson Shield, where he became a two-time, and the final, holder of the title.

With an antagonistic history in New Zealand wrestling since forming at our debut show, [REDACTED] have proven to be one of the most dominant factions on the scene. The stepping back of mastermind Bryant has changed the group's dynamic, but as former Capital Pro Wrestling Tag Team champions, the team are not to be taken lightly. While "The Chosen One" William Cutting has held major titles in CPW, Unified Championship Wrestling and Professional Wrestling Entertainment across his career, "The Workhorse" ACJ has proven himself to be one to watch himself, having held both the CPW Legacy Cup and the Hand Of Fate, while currently taking part in becoming the inaugural Aotearoa New Zealand Flyweight champion.

Can the unlikely team of Wisheart and Te Kaha move forward in the tag tournament, or will [REDACTED] close in on holding Heathen Combat gold again?

***MATCH ANNOUNCEMENT***
Barry Burrito vs. James Shaw - Divine Savior
Professional Wrestling Entertainment Northland championship & Action Packed Wrestling championship
Title vs. Title

A journeyman of the New Zealand scene, Barry Burrito has been appearing all over the country, bringing his unique style of wrestling to the masses. However, the last few years have seen the spicy luchadore hit his stride, becoming something of a master of the battle royale. With many appearances in the Impact Pro Wrestling, Hughes Academy of Professional Wrestling, Capital Pro Wrestling, Legacy Pro Wrestling, PWE, APW and Heathen Combat rumbles, Burrito has been the last wrestler standing at the end of the match multiple times. As a result, Barry has managed to win the Warner Cup, Cement Your Legacy contract, and at one stage, a shot at the PWE Northland championship. Meeting then-champion Horus in Morrinsville, the leader of the Burrito Club shocked everyone by defeating the Duke Of Death and claiming the title, much to the delight of his many little amigos at ringside.

With a staggering 36 title reigns to his name across nearly every promotion in the country, James Shaw has continued to prove why he is one of the best wrestlers to ever come out of New Zealand. Alongside allies such as Father Shaw, Sir Mr. Burns KNZM and the Young Nats, the leader of the Church Of Divine Light has been a thorn in the side of many on the NZ scene, and his appearances in Heathen Combat have been no different, feuding with the likes of Liam Erikson, Kai Solomon and The Final Boss Bryant. Over the last few year, Shaw has managed to win tag titles in PWE, CPW, IPW and Southern Pro Wrestling, but his biggest coup came at Aotearoa Wrestling's Kiwi Rumble, where he managed to defeated Tee Hawke to claim both the Aotearoa Heavyweight and APW championships at once, proving that you can never bet against the Divine Savior.

Two champions enter. One champion leaves. Who will be left holding both titles when the dust settles in Morrinsville?

***MATCH ANNOUNCEMENT***
Tommy Fusion (C) vs. Phoenix Tallion
Hand Of Fate championship

From debuting against his trainer, to holding championships in multiple promotions in less than two years, Tommy Fusion's rise through the ranks of New Zealand professional wrestling has been meteoric. After facing the likes of Rugged Vic Craig, Johta Suzuki and future tag team partner Voidheart' JT Hollow, Fusion would surprise many when he dethroned ACJ as Hand Of Fate champion at 2023's WrestleFest. Going on to win the Action Packed Wrestling championship and the Maniacs United Pure Of Heart Senior Cup, Tommy would become the final New Zealand Professional Wrestling champion at Maniacs United's final event, defeating Hollow, Tallion and Craig in the final main event.

Fellow Maniacs United trainee Phoenix Tallion burst onto the scene with an emphatic defeat of JT Hollow in a Tables match. Quickly establishing himself as one to watch, Tallion would win the vacant Jackson Shield, and the Pure Of Heart Senior Cup. Making his way to Capital Pro Wrestling, Tallion won the Brewtown Cup, CPW Tag Team championships alongside Luke Starr, and dethroned The Final Boss Bryant as Panhead Custom Ales Heavyweight champion. Picked as Jaxon Cross' final NZ opponent at Heathen Combat, the two had what many consider one of the greatest matches in Heathen history. After losing the Shield to Te Kaha, Tallion won a shot at the NZPW championship, winning the interim championship in an elimination match, solidifying his reign by defeating champion JT Hollow, before finally losing the title to Fusion at the final Maniacs United event.

Both men challenged for the vacant One Above All world championship at "Melbourne (No Intro)," but came up short against Ryan Zero. Now, the two meet one-on-one for the Hand Of Fate championship. Who will hold the Axe when the dust settles in Morrinsville?

***MATCH ANNOUNCEMENT***

Kerry Tank Diamond vs. Rugged Vic Craig (c)
Falls Count Anywhere, No Holds Barred
One Above All championship

Rugged Vic Craig proved he was one step ahead of everyone, cashing in a title match he won during Reaper Pro's New Zealand Deathmatch championship tournament, on new One Above All champion Ryan Zero, following his win of the vacant title at "Melbourne (No Intro)." Managing to hold onto the belt later that night after he and Edward Dusk's title match was called off after the pair attacked multiple referees, Craig retained the title again via count-out against Ryan Zero at Action Packed Wrestling. Continuing his crusade to bring death to New Zealand wrestling, Craig has since become the inaugural Legacy Pro Wrestling champion, continues to reigning as NZ Deathmatch champion, and travelled to the United States to compete during WrestleMania weekend.

New Zealand wrestling legend Kerry "Tank" Diamond has been a fixture of the scene for over two decades, and has a resumé to prove it. Trained by Australian legend George "The Hitman" Julio, Tank has made his name on both sides of the Tasman, holding multiple championships in Professional Wrestling Entertainment and New Age Wrestling, as well as being inducted into NAW's Hall of Fame. With a background in boxing and holding a blackbelt in karate, as well as being the president of the Kaitiaki Riders NZ, few come close to the toughness of the Morrinsville local. As the man who many look at as the foundation that Heathen Combat was formed on, Tank was given his choice of match for our return show in his home town - And the original Heathen has set his sights on the Reaper and the One Above All!

Who will hold the One Above All when two of the toughest men ever to set foot in an NZ ring face off for the first time ever?

Might f**k around and drop an announcement later 👀

Photos from Heathen Combat's post 28/04/2024

One year ago today, we ran what would be our final show, across the Tasman in Melbourne, and far from our home city of Hamilton.

After the events of 'Melbourne (No Intro),' the landscape of Heathen Combat was changed dramatically with the crowning of Rugged Vic Craig as the new One Above All champion.

One year on, we're still extremely proud of the massive achievement this show was and of everyone involved, and very thankful that we were able to show Melbourne just how amazing the talent we have here in New Zealand are.

19/04/2024

Tonight, our good friends at Maniacs United present their final show, headlined by a match to crown the last New Zealand Professional Wrestling champion, featuring 4 of the most talented wrestlers this country has ever produced.

We're huge fans of the crew at Maniacs. Both our titles are currently with Maniacs talent, and the One Above All has been defended there in some huge matches in the past.

Tonight guarantees to be a hugely special and emotional event, so make sure you get down there and support the team and be part of NZ wrestling history.

11/04/2024

While we're disappointed by the announcement that this year's iteration of WrestleFest will not be going ahead, we will have some good news for you very soon.

Stay tuned!

Just in case anyone missed the announcements.

New Zealand Wrestlefest 2024 which was due to take place over this weekend. Has been Cancelled.

This is due to some outside of our control factors.

Wrestlefest was born out of an idea of uniting New Zealand wrestling further. Which has always been a goal of ours. And to provide an awesome weekend of us all doing what we love.

We are disappointed that this years had to be cancelled. But it was the right decision. If wrestlefest 2023 was the only one then that’s completely ok. As we loved the event and it was a special weekend.

Thank you to everyone for your support. With 2023 and understanding of the cancelation.

27/02/2024

While we don't exactly see eye to eye with the man who currently holds the One Above All World championship, we are still extremely proud of Rugged Vic Craig, who heads to the USA in April to take part in the madness that is WrestleMania week!

Due to circumstances and situations that have arisen over the last 72 hours, on top of previous issues, we are cancelling next Saturday's event, "I Went To A Heathen Combat Show..." and closing our doors as a promotion.

Full refunds will be processed for all tickets purchased for the event.

Heathen Combat has been my dream since I was a kid, and the last 3 and a half years have been amazing, but unfortunately I cannot continue to run events.

I am proud of what myself, the amazing men and women of our roster (Both NZ and international), and the team working behind the scenes have created. I love the community we built here in Hamilton. I wish I could keep doing this, but unfortunately, I cannot financially afford to keep doing so.

Also, as many of you know, events that have occurred over the last few months have weighed on me greatly, and took a toll on my mental health. I've made some bad decisions, and I need to sort myself out before I can continue to be involved in wrestling in any capacity in good faith.

I am so deeply sorry to everyone I have let down - The wrestlers, the crew, and most importantly, the fans who supported my silly little idea for as long as you have.

So long, and goodnight.

Michael Greene

***MATCH ANNOUNCEMENT***
Kid Nova vs. Rugged Vic Craig (c)
One Above All World championship

Much like his Nu Blood tag team partner Zac Hayle, Kid Nova has made it his mission to bring eyes to tag team wrestling. As one half of the Maniacs United Tag Team champions, the Starkiller has proven time and time again that he is one of the best wrestlers on the scene. Nova spent most of 2022 chasing the Unified Championship Wrestling Light Heavyweight championship, then held by Ray Gunn, and while he was unsuccessful at November's 'Choose Death,' he scored a huge win the night earlier at 'Mat Earth Society: Trouble In Paradiso' over then One Above All World champion 'The Smash Hit' Joel Bateman, ensuring him a future shot at the title. 2023 has been a mixed bag for Nova, with Nu Blood failing to win their match in the Tag Team Title tournament, as well as losing to Tarlee and Tom Crowe in Melbourne. Nova and Craig recently faced off in Maniacs United, ending in a tainted victory for the Reaper, ensuring the Starkiller will be looking for revenge.

Once the beloved fan favourite, the NZ fans were stunned when Rugged Vic Craig turned his back on them, declaring 'Death to New Zealand wrestling,' and becoming the man now known as the Deathmatch Reaper. Winning the Maniacs United New Zealand Professional Wrestling championship, Craig would embark on a long campaign against multiple promotions, eventually siding with Deathmatch Downunder alongside his mentor, Joel Bateman. Forming Reaper Pro to continue his bloody war and bring even more death to NZ wrestling, Craig would brutally assault Heathen owner Michael Greene, and while the subsequent match ended with the surprise return of Kai Solomon as Greene's replacement, he would bounce back the following day by becoming the first New Zealand Deathmatch champion, as well as pinning new One Above All World champion York, earning a future title shot himself. Proving to be ever the opportunist, Craig would cash in this shot at 'Melbourne (No Intro)' against new champ Ryan Zero, who had just competed in a triple threat and been attacked by special guest Liger, becoming the new One Above All World champion, much to the chagrin of Heathen Combat management and roster alike.

Having already defeated his mentor, can the Starkiller go on to defeat the Deathmatch Reaper for the top prize in Heathen Combat in our main event?

***MATCH ANNOUNCEMENT***
Tommy Fusion (c) vs. Zac Hayle
Hand Of Fate championship

The meteoric rise of Tommy Fusion has been one of the biggest stories in New Zealand wrestling since his debut. From show-stealing matches with Rugged Vic Craig to his beloved tag team with friend Voidheart' JT Hollow, the Schwinga has been one of the country's busiest wrestlers, facing a who's who of the NZ scene, as well as making fans in Australia during the Heathen Combat x DMDU 'Weekend Of Death.' A huge presence across WrestleFest, Fusion managed two huge wins during the 2 days - Putting away international star Johta Suzuki, before defeating [REDACTED]'s ACJ to win the Hand Of Fate championship. While he didn't succeed in winning the vacant One Above All World championship at 'Melbourne (No Intro),' the Axe all but guarantees that Fusion and Heathen Combat's top prize will cross paths again soon.

On a mission to become the best tag team in New Zealand, Nu Blood's Zac Hayle and Kid Nova have become a staple across the division. The current Maniacs United Tag Team champions, the pair have also both shown to be fantastic singles wrestlers as well, including a friendly rivalry against one another. Hayle, one of the best high fliers in the country, has challenged for a variety of titles, including the Unified Championship Wrestling Light Heavyweight, Maniacs United New Zealand Professional Wrestling, Professional Wrestling Entertainment - PWE Womens championships, as well as a shot at the Hand Of Fate against previous champion Ryan Zero. Unsuccessful in their entry to the Tag Team Title Tournament against Horus and Phoenix Tallion, Nu Blood came up short against Tarlee and Tom Crowe in Melbourne, before Hayle would become a human highlight reel during the trios deathmatch against Blood Fighter's 'The Smash Hit' Joel Bateman, Charli Evans and Jordan Samson alongside Zero and Hollow.
