Formed in May of 2007, our growing chapter provides a variety of opportunities for furthering our dedication to transportation. Members can get involved in several activities such as our monthly meetings as participants in educational and professional development programs, and in social/networking events held throughout the year. The WTS Charlotte Metro Chapter invites you to submit a presentation proposal for the upcoming Fall Mini-Series. This half-day event will showcase a variety of speakers and presentations that feature multiple modes of transportation.
The event will be held on the afternoon of Thursday, September 26th, 2024 at the Hamilton in Charlotte.

Iona will present about how projects are often undercut by our own limited thinking. By challenging basic assumptions and thinking creatively about the unique opportunities along Trenton Road, the McAdams team was able to design a solution that closes a key gap in the trail network connecting to Umstead State Park with a 10-ft wide shared use path. This lunch session will take participants through the design, coordination, and approval processes McAdams navigated to get a first of its kind in North Carolina solution designed and out to bid.
Networking will begin at 11:30 am with the lunch program running from noon to 1:00pm. Attendees can earn 1.0 PDH or CM credits. Space is limited for this event. We will not be able to accommodate walk-ins.

Closing out our celebration, our Chapter would like to honor Edith Peters. Edith serves as a Director-at-Large, sharing her leadership and wisdom with the Chapter. She also spearheaded the successful North Carolina Women in Engineering Conference in March.

Our mission is to unite female engineers and their peers for a day brimming with opportunities for professional advancement, networking, and individual enrichment. The 2024 conference will spotlight two distinct tracks, one for Professional Development (offering up to 5 PDH/CEU credits) and the other for Personal Development.

Our 2024 Annual Meeting today was outstanding! We honored our four local scholarship winners and empowered our members to get more involved with the Chapter.
Jannet Walker-Ford, the Chair of the WTS International Board of Directors, outlined the latest WTS initiatives to support members' personal and professional growth and then answered our member's questions about professional successes, challenges, and leadership. Our time together went by so quickly and we can't wait for Jannet to visit us again!

We had nearly 100 attendees that had the opportunity to network and hear the latest from ten local experts on mobility in the rapidly growing Charlotte region. The Charlotte Metro WTS Chapter is committed to encouraging and investing in young women who will someday become our future leaders in transportation. Each year our Chapter solicits applications for the WTS Foundation National Scholarships, ranging from $2,500 to $10,000.
The Charlotte Metro WTS Chapter also offers a local $2,000 scholarship, the Mary N. Clayton Honorary Scholarship, which is selected from the National Scholarship applications at the collegiate and graduate levels. We also provide an additional $750 local scholarship for high school seniors.
