The DPW is working hard to get the roads safe- be patient there is a lot of roads to address.

MESSAGE FROM DPW DIRECTOR BOB KNOX!

Good evening Malden ,

just a little Info this evening. City sanders have been out working the streets since 3 am this morning to get salt down before the morning commute. Which was successful
Keep in mind after the snow turned to rain and you have wet road and temps dropping this evening there is going to be some BLACK ICE
Take a little extra time and go a little slower traveling around. We are still out hitting hills and streets but obviously can not hit every little court and terrace immediately. Also in order for salt to work you need a couple things including traffic on the street , temps and sunlight without those all the salt in the world won’t work it will refreeze.

Thanks
Be patient and be safe

For Immediate Release - January 9, 2024

Malden School Committee to Conduct Superintendent Search

09/01/2024

Earlier today, Governor Healey announced mid-year state budget spending reductions, known as “9C cuts.” Unfortunately, this is necessary because FY24 state tax collections are currently running $769 million below the projections used to build the state budget last summer. We are currently at the mid-point of the fiscal year. Under state law, the Governor is required to take action to bring the state budget back into balance; the legislature is not involved in this process.

The Governor is planning to make $375 million in spending cuts and close the rest of the budget gap with other non-spending initiatives. Chapter 70 school funding will not be impacted, but some local earmarks will be reduced. We are monitoring the situation closely to determine how it affects our district.

We are hopeful that state tax revenues will stabilize going forward.

Over the past several months, I’ve had the distinct honor and privilege of talking with many Malden Public School families across the city in an effort to introduce my self and outline my educational background. We collectively discussed many issues and topics that the Malden Public Schools are facing not only today, but in the future as well. I have thoroughly enjoyed our discussions. I want to thank you all for the tremendous reception and support. As this campaign comes to a close, I respectfully ask for your vote on Tuesday, November 7th. I want to put my Master’s Degree in School Leadership and School Administration to work for the benefit of our children. I want to ensure they receive the best possible education. They deserve nothing less.

With warm personal regards,

Rob McCarthy

Praying for the people of Israel who continue to endure the ravages of unthinkable acts of terrorism and brutality.

At these times we must strengthen our resolve to stand in support alongside our allies, against the savage forces trying to destroy them…and our own way of life.

Also remembering our Jewish friends near and far, who are experiencing this travesty around their holiest day, some fifty years after the Yom Kippur War.
