Haitian Organization Spotlight Meds & Food for Kids (MFK)] šŸ’›

Meds & Food for Kids (MFK) is dedicated to saving the lives of Haitiā€™s malnourished children and other nutritionally vulnerable people. MFK accomplishes its mission by developing, producing, and distributing highly nutritious foods, including the gold-standard Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF). MFK makes its products in Haiti, using Haitian workers and, when possible, Haitian raw materials. Haitians call the RUTF ā€œMedika Mamba.ā€

They ensure expecting mothers have what they need by distributing nutritious food to clinics throughout Haiti.

Thank you Meds & Food for Kids (MFK)] for all that you do!

Updates

In , Administrator Power visited Maniche, where the mayor reported over half of the townā€™s 9,800 homes were destroyed in the earthquake. In one collapsed home, typical of what she saw, the eave of the attic was now the ground level sleeping area for a 69 year-old grandmother and five loved ones.

She heard candidly from families about what more aid is neededā€”particularly emergency shelter. I met the Maniche Police Chief and Haitian Civil Protection officials, saw a flattened school (imperiling start of classes next month), and visited a health clinic overwhelmed by patients.

These needs are being experienced by many communities. Administrator Power emphasized the U.S. commitment to helping Haiti recover. We will do this work urgently, in close coordination with Haitian officials, and with a determined focus on meeting needs that impacted communities themselves identify.
