This year's senior group who usually produce, shoot and edit the Bi-Weekly newscast Tolsia Times have decided that this year, they want to do something slightly different.

Instead of producing a newscast they want to do a Talk Show where local business owners, distinguished alumni or esteemed community members come onto the show as guests to talk about things happening in the Tolsia Community.

The first episode of this show would be shot next Friday September 20th. If you or anyone you know would be a great guest for the show comment below, I think this would be a great opportunity for the students to produce a different type of show and for people in the community feel connected to the school & vice versa.

The shooting schedule for the show will be as follows:

Episode One - September 20th
Episode Two - October 4th
Episode Three - October 18th
Episode Four - November 1st
Episode Five - November 15th
Episode Six - November 29th
Episode Seven - December 13th

Tolsia gets the win tonight 25-0 over Paden City in a shortened game that was called with 52 seconds remaining in the 1st quarter. The Rebels improve to 1-1 on the season.

Also, want to give a massive shout out to Matt Williamson and Robbie Conn. The Tolsia community is lucky to have guys like them. They went above and beyond this week to help do some mantience at the field & in the press box. Things that will not only make our place look better to visitors but also ensure that we have a video board working flawlessly and internet in the press box! Thank you guys, it is appreciated so much!

Tolsia vs. Wayne Football Game

30/08/2024

Good news, the wifi issues have been fixed meaning from a technical standpoint we could go live tonight.

The bad news is, due to so much to do for a football game with the in stadium videoboard, sideline highlights and everything necessary for a livestream, I just don't have enough students in class this year to be able to pull off all three.

Football games occur outside of school hours and I can not force kids to attend or force kids to participate. In the past this hadn't been an issue because the amount of kids in my class made sure I always had 3 or 4 who were willing to work ball games. Numbers this year for my program are way down, and I no longer have a group of students interested in this aspect of my program at this time. That unfortunately means there will be no live stream for tonight's game with the Wayne Pioneers.

Hopefully, that will change as the season goes along. But, just wanted to give everyone a heads up. I tried, I ran a test this morning and had streaming working, but I can't do everything myself and the in stadium video board takes precedence over a live stream. We will try again next week verse Paden City.

28/08/2024

The plan for Friday night is to livestream the football team's home opener against the Wayne Pioneers. However, at this moment in time, Wayne County Schools has established a new wifi network that is not compatible with Mac computers (which is what our streaming software is on).

The county is working to rectify this, but if it isn't fixed by Friday we will unfortunately not be able to have a broadcast.

Earlier this semester I gave my Radio Class an assignment where they were able to choose a story from a list of classic American short stories to adapt into a Radio Play.

My class chose the Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell. Over the last several weeks they read the story, worked to adapt the story into a radioplay script, recorded the play and lastly edited the play.

Today they finally finished it and I am proud to present the Glenhayes Entertainment radio play version of The Most Dangerous Game.

With last night's boys loss to the St. Joe Fighting Irish, basketball season at Tolsia High School has officially came to a close.

What a roller coaster of a season it was, there were some extreme lows like losing a heartbreaker in OT to Grace Christian at home. But some amazing highs as well, like a trip to Indiana to play in the historic Hoosier gym, a trip that I'm sure our boys will remember for years after their playing days are over.

The Rebels won 16 games over the course of the season and ended on the verge of the program's first State Tournament berth since 2013. Came up a little short last night, had our opportunities to win and I know today the boys are hurting, especially our seniors who played their last game.

We all want to be champions when the season starts, but only one team gets to claim that title. Still, successes can be had, relationships can be built and milestones can be accomplished despite falling short of goals. This season, in my view was a success. I watched a team grow this year, I watched a team improve and I watched a group of boys leave their hearts and soul on the floor at Spring Valley. NO ONE can say you didn't play hard. And for that I'm proud of you, not only as a teacher, but as a Tolsia alum. That's all any of us in the community can ask, is you give it everything you got, and you did that.

A lot of talent comes back to this team next season, and a lot of improvement will be made by the time next season starts in November. And in few weeks, you'll get to work on trying to finish the job next year, but for now, what a season this was. Let's look at some of the things Rebel fans got to witness.

1. Honoring Coty Jude with his jersey retirement.
2. Seeing Parker Watts, break Jude's single game scoring record with 55 points in a win over Huntington Expression Prep.
3. Watching Bradee Vance return to the floor after battling and recovering from kidney disease & getting to host ESPN in Rebel Arena so they could tell Bradee's story.
4. Witnessing freshman like CJ Waller & Robert Evans be asked to come in and play big varsity minutes all season long. Both showed flashes of the future impact they could/will have on Tolsia basketball.
5. We got to see Dakota Blackburn & Evan Ball turn the tide (pun intended) in a big sectional game against Sherman with their defensive efforts.
6. Celebrating a great group of seniors on senior night, Bryson Muncy who always played with passion, Josh Hoffmeister who always embraced his role & gave you all he had and Bradee Vance, what more can you say about Bradee, then he overcomes adversity.

All of these things and MORE are what we got to see as Rebel fans. There were some bad losses, some bad nights, some what if and what could have beens. Yes, our season ended short of where we wanted, but you can't convince me, that despite it all, when you weigh the good and the bad, that you could call this season anything other than a success.

Excited for next year and the future of Tolsia Basketball. As always, proud to be a REBEL.

05/03/2024

Tonight's game will be live on the St. Joe Central Catholic School page.
