In a self defence situation it is not enough to hurt your attacker. This is a short-lived victory. You must learn how to inflict enough actual damage that they will no longer be able to continue.

"I think that after the black belt level it is better to use open hand techniques. They allow more freedom in connecting kicks. Naturally, when the fists are clenched, the whole body is tensed and that inhibits kicking.
