Darwins Most Haunted

Today we honour those who have fought for our freedoms, we remember those lost in new wars and we thank those currently serving!
Today is also the anniversary of the bombing of Darwin
My great grandfather was an English soldier who fought in France and is buried their today I thank him for his sacrifice, he was a machine gunner in WWI and was killed in action a month before peace was declared, leaving his wife and son behind
That’s all we know of him and his medals nothing els of his story we think when my dad and his brother cleaned out their mothers home they may have thrown out letters and other things they thought may not have been important.
We have one replica medal and one real medal as my dad’s brother has the same we don’t know if those still reside on that side of the family (they didn’t seem to value family history much) but we cherish what we have of this man and the photos my mum brought back from France when she visited his grave years ago
