Happy Friday ๐
The science behind the processes like of guttation still fascinates me. The more i know, the more i become aware, the more i become interested, the more i become invested. ๐
The Queen is back! ๐
I almost lost her as she didnโt really liked being indoors but unfortunately she is forced to stay inside (an live) during summer but she looks like sheโs preparing for al fresco living again during the cooler months ahead! Still one if my favorite anthuriums, stunning as always, stubborn at times. ๐
This is definitely one of the weirdest Philodendrons i have but it is also one of the most beautiful and easiest to take care of. Sometimes it looks like a fern, at times it resembles a palm variety. Should it be a Philodendron or should it be something else? ๐
Howโs your Colombia? Got this Colombia last June as a one leafer and in a matter of 3 months, has given 3 additional gorgeous leaves and theyโre all stunning! Although it seem to like whatever he has at the moment, my aim is to give this guy a better condition so it can produce bigger leaves, at least double the size of the current ones. ๐
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, better weather seem to be coming soon as it got to less than 30ยฐC this morning when i went out in the garden and i hear more birds chirping outside now ๐
I miss being the DesertPlantGuy!๐
I havenโt been around (Instagram) lately because Iโm not a huge fan of reels and videos and i miss the calmness of plant and garden photos bring to me. I still donโt have a TikTok account and i donโt have any plans of creating an account. ๐
My absence in social media is not reflective of whatโs happening in my plant and gardening world though. Iโve been busy propagating new plants and taking care of he existing ones; been uber busy trying to ensure plants left outside the back garden survives (will post photos soon) and sees the nicer weather which is inly weeks ahead of us; actively controlling spider mite infestation on few aroid species; and a lot more. ๐
This plant photo may have caught your attention and it did mine too. This is Chlorospatha sp. red, a rare Ecuadorian aroid belonging to the Caladium tribe. It has a velvety leaves and has red blush on itโs vein most visible on juvenile leaves. Itโs a new plant so I canโt tell much on itโs care here in the desert but it should be treated as almost like any other South American aroid out there ๐
More to come from me soon! I hope you miss me coz i miss you all! ๐
An intro to keep your house plants alive in UAE ๐
Your starter pack to keeping your house plants alive, from a dedicated plant Dad From potting mix to drainage knowhow, weโve got all the new plant parents covered
Every bit is important! Only plant parents propagate the tiniest of plant materials out there! ๐ค
What are you currently propagating?
Happy Philodendron Friday ๐ค
After months of neglect, this Tortum has finally recovering. With some TLC, Liquid Gold Leaf, and nice words, we help them thrive, regardless of where they are ๐ค
I wish everyone a wonderful planty weekend ahead! ๐ค
I hope you had a lovely Monstera Monday ๐ค
I am lucky enough to have genuinely generous plant friends IRL! Imagine being given cuttings as beautiful and valuable as this Half Moon? No one will do these kind of gestures but those who really are plant lovers and of course, kind, generous friends. We shall not name this person but i am grateful for the gift of friendship, trust and kindness ๐ค
This VarMon cutting is currently being rooted in perlite indoors, receiving 12 hrs of bright light from a grow light. Only an inch of water is added as this is enough to keep the perlite moist while ensuring high aeration to support rooting process.
Hilo everyone! ๐ค
I hope your weekend went well! This HB gave off several pups which i am yet to repot. I got TONS of gardening tasks i need to complete in a week so if youโre bored, DM me so i can give a task or two ๐
Hilo Beauty is enjoying the outdoors, in dappled sun, watered every day since itโs scorching hot here in the Sand Pits, fed monthly, potted in an airy aroid mix. ๐
Happy Syngonium Saturday ๐ค
I got a few syngonium albos living outside in the back garden in Abu Dhabi. Yes, surviving the heat and humidity of the Sand Pits of UAE. Having the protection of the shade of a tree, aroids and other tropicals enjoy the microclimate the tree provides ๐
Happy Philodendron Friday ๐
Few aroids in the collection will stay outdoors like this Plowmanii as it seem to enjoy the ambient heat and humidity in the shades. Receiving 3-4 hours of direct morning sun, this philodendron is surely adapting to the Middle Eastern climate ๐
Potted in a very airy aroid mix; watered every day; fed monthly. ๐
Happy weekend! ๐ค
You will find plants everywhere in a plant loving home! As a Quality and Training Officer in a huge healthcare organization in the Middle East, my day job requires the flexibility of working anywhere, even at home. As our small team assists hundreds of front and back office staff making my role demanding and prone to stress, so i decided to make my home office ergonomic, relaxed, clutter free, and easy on the eyes by using a standing desk, high quality monitor, wireless peripherals, and of course, PLANTS! ๐ค
Because of their stunning venation, color and texture, Jewel Alocasias like these Green Dragons are still my all time favorite and never fails to bring smile on to my face whenever i see them thriving ๐ค
They can thrive both indoors and out here in the sand pits for as long as they donโt get too much direct sunlight and watered when dry. They donโt like wet feet. ๐ค
Another wishlist plant has arrived ๐.
Never thought Iโll be able to source a Joepii but my plant godmother who is absolutely wonderful was able to help me get one and i am uber excited ๐
For serious collectors, this rare specimen is adored by many due to itโs unique leaf shape that seems to be out this world. A climber from South America, this bizarre plant thought to be extinct because it is slow growing but a lot of enthusiasts consider this as an โeasyโ plant to care for.
Darylโs Variegated Shangrila ๐๐ค
I named it Darโs Shangrila because sheโs the one who pointed out this variegation. Obviously I didnโt know as i never really paid attention to it previously LOL
Epipremnum Shangrila is definitely weird with itโs twisted foliage but the golden variegation makes it more sickly and quirky ๐คฃ
Happy World Naked Gardening Day! ๐
Letโs keep on hoping and working together for a greener world where respect, inclusivity, and peace ๐
One of the reasons why i love plants is because they come in all shapes, colors and sizes. A recent addition to the family is this P69686 and itโs leaf shape is definitely interesting. ๐
#69686
Frog In A Blender - a jumbled melange of shades of green, although the name portrays a repulsive image, no frogs have been harmed in growing these leaves. ๐
Outside in full but dappled sun; watered every 2 days; fed monthly; on a well draining mix.
Although the Caladiums are loving the heat of the full sun, they will soon go to the shade as the temperature will keep on rising in the sand pits. ๐ค
Happy weekend! ๐ค
My favorite plant at the moment is this Zz! Itโs a hell of a slow grower but itโs worth the wait! Iโm hoping for more marbling on the next growth ๐ค
Happy Philodendron Friday ๐๐ค๐
We may be busy at work and in life but need to make sure we include plant care in our daily/weekly routine as gardening/plant care is proven to promote wellbeing. ๐
