So Fran N and I have been walking at Twin Brooks together, and swimming Tashua for more than 25 years... we've had hips or knees fixed, had ups, then downs, talked politics, religion, literature, children, the meaning of life and all things trivial as well. Growing older in the midst of this beauty and our history together is such a gift.

I knew those artsy "fun things" I've done all these years were a lot more than fun! BUT, in the 1970's there was no "Major" in Expressive Arts Therapy so I had to jump through hoops, do "Interdisciplinary Studies" etc. double internships etc. What still makes my blood boil is that my friends, virtually all Mds, MSW's, LCSW's see the field, my training and experience as inferior. So, my referrals come from incredibly satisfied clients for whom the licensed professionals have failed; not from the physicians, school guidance counselors, or other "mainstream" health workers that they should. Therapeutic COACHING, Expressive Arts Therapies work. I rarely rant, but the article below supports what some of us knew over 50 years ago. Will your Dr or specialist put me on their referral list? Why not?
