1st Troon Boys Brigade

We were pleased to welcome so many parents/family members and boys to our enrollment service yesterday evening. After the service our Junior Section organised a sponsored challenge to help raise money for the "End Polio Now" campaign, which aims to raise money for polio vaccination in the Afghanistan/Pakistan region. The challenge was to score 1240 goals.

Through their hard work, our Juniors managed to raise £304.32 which is enough to vaccinate 4,500 children. An excellent effort from all involved and a huge thanks to everyone who attended last night for their support.

Loch Tay played host to Boys & Officers from our Company Section recently, where we were blessed with excellent weather and stunning scenery. We hope you enjoy the highlights of our trip to this picturesque region of Perthshire.

With our session now drawn to a close for the summer, we are pleased to share this recap of our 23/24 session. 10 of our company section boys have been hard at work over the last year to capture and produce what the company has been up to. We hope you enjoy it.

At the weekend a group of 1st to 3rd year boys and 3 officers hopped on the Ferry to Arran from Troon for our first Expedition of the year. We had the good fortune of some excellent weather and the boys completed the C**k of Arran circular trail before finishing off the day with a BBQ in Lochranza.

On Sunday 31st December we will be bag packing at Morrison's in Troon. If you would like to donate to support the company, we will be there from 10:00 to 16:30.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated.

On Friday our Anchor Boys & Junior Section had their annual Halloween parties. A great time seemed to be had by all, including our senior photographers

Early August is the time for the 1st Troon BB Camp; this year was no different. On August 5th we set off with a group of boys & officers to Kirkham, where we last visited in 2019. Below you will find a brief glimpse of our week away. We hope you enjoy, and planning is underway for next year.

1st Troon BB Camp 2023

On Friday, May 5th, we held our first Display since 2019 at Troon Town Hall, which showcased items from the Anchor Boys, Junior Section, Company Section & our World Champion Pipe Band.

During the Display, we had the privilege of recognizing the achievements of our 8 Queens Men. These deserving individuals were awarded the prestigious Queen's Badge, in recognition of their commitment and hard work throughout their 12-year service with the 1st Troon.

Since the start of the year a select group of our Company Section boys have been hard at work creating a video recap of the previous year that showcases all 3 of our sections.

We return to normal service this Friday after the Easter break starting at the usual time.

This weekend 14 of our Company Section boys took part in an expedition on Arran. Fortunately, we got over and back without any ferry disruption and the weather held up well too. A brief glimpse of the weekend can be seen below with photos to follow soon.

REMINDER FOR COMPANY SECTION BOYS - Bible class starts on Sunday morning at 09:30 to 10:00 at the BB hall across from the swimming pool.

Remember clocks go back so factor this into your timings.

NEW SESSION DETAILS

Each of our 3 sections will be starting the 22/23 session over the coming weeks. Details are below:

Anchor Boys will be starting back with an enrolment night on Wed 7th September (6:30 to 7:15) at BB Hall (across from swimming pool) and then will have regular Friday nights from 9th September (7 to 8pm) at St Meddans Church Hall. They will be welcoming P1 (5 yr olds) for the first time. Age range is P1 to P4.

Junior Section (P5 to P7): Starts Friday 9th September at Portland Church Hall- 7pm to 8:30pm

Company Section is for S1 to S6 and will be starting back with an enrolment night from 7:30pm to 8pm at Troon Old Parish Church Hall on the 16th September. The following week on the 23rd September will be a non-uniform games night to start the session, from 7:30pm to 9:15pm at the same venue.

Phenomenal achievement from our pipe band. 2022 Grade 4b World Champions. A testament to the hard work put in by our Pipe Major Chris Bone, the instructors, and the band as a whole.

WORLD CHAMPIONS 2022 !!!!
Further to our post on Saturday regarding the World Championships we were informed today by the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association that there has been an administrative error.

When compiling the final marks the ensemble score and drumming score were the wrong way round therefore meaning Syerla Pipe Band are now the Grade 4b World Drumming Champions but it also means that finishing 1st place in ensemble……..

1st TROON BB PIPE BAND ARE NOW OFFICIALLY THE 2022 GRADE 4b WORLD PIPE BAND CHAMPIONS !!!!

Nobody wants to win or lose a Championship this way and we have spoken to Syerla Pipe Band personally today and passed on our best wishes fully understanding how they feel tonight.

What an achievement by such a hard working group of young men who are such a credit to the town.

A reminder for parents/boys that Company Section will be having a games night at Troon Old Parish Church hall at 19:30 on Friday 17th June.
