2023 is shaping up to be a SUPERBLOOM year! 🌼 🏵️ 🌻
Things were poppin' off this past weekend. Our friends at Picacho Peak State Park saw a sea of poppies.
A superbloom is a rare phenomenon that happens in deserts and are created by an abundance of rain in the fall and throughout the winter. These anticipated natural events also depend on soil temperatures. Because rains are unpredictable, a good wildflower bloom may only occur once in a decade.
If you are visiting a state park or an undisturbed land to catch the superbloom this year, please respect the wildflowers. Don't pick the flowers! Don't sit or lay on the ground and crush the wildflowers! Stick to the trails and take responsible wildflowers selfies.
