parrotvolancy
Parrot Volancy offers bird training assistance, flight education, and free flight mentorships.
Our mission is to improve captive parrot care by helping people understand their birds' natural instincts and behaviour.
The babies are doing great! We're getting very close to free flight. Still looking for a couple more people to adopt! I am waiting for Arkady to finish moulting because she has new flight feathers growing in and I want her to be in good form for flying with the babies. I have some more cute pictures, but Instagram was giving me a hard time, so I'll post them separately.

Yesterday when we were cleaning up the rescue we have Havoc providing his supervision from up above.
Beautiful addition to Straw Hat Parrots' rescue!
This is a new Australian group my friend made for flight education. :]
I'm over the moon for Havoc!
Baby update! Let me know if you're interested in adopting, preferably if you would like to free-fly. :] All five babies are being lovingly interacted with and learning to come to me for millet (though they are all still very young, so some are farther along this process than others, based on their age). Outdoor enclosure training will start soon. I'm sorry I haven't been posting more updates, but I struggle to get everything done in the day even without posting. However, I want to keep getting the word out, because these babies will be free-flying and looking for awesome homes.

Your Prime Day delivery has arrived. XD These babies will be up for adoption AND trained to free-fly beforehand! These are the babies of Aesop and Arkady, and Aesop is Linnaeus and Ki-ok's son. This means that they will be third-generation free-flying cockatiels.

Yep, I'm going to be looking for awesome homes for these babies. :] I do plan on getting them free-flying before adoption, and I could teach anyone who chooses to adopt. I was not expecting this many, nor was I expecting Nemo the budgie to assist in the endeavour, lol.

Havoc!
The best boi living his best life thanks to Straw Hat Parrots!
A cockatoo on a mission!
I'll be answering questions about cockatiel free flight on 's Instagram live tomorrow around noon EST, for anyone who wants to tune in! :] (I know you guys probably think I got bodysnatched or something posting twice in one day, lol.)

Not drawing any concrete conclusions yet, but I had Aesop out with Linnaeus yesterday. He was initially enticed to fly when Linnaeus flew. He flew around and landed in trees for about twenty minutes, then he flew down onto the top of the cage and flew to me when Linnaeus chased him off of it (lol). I held him up to the door of the cage, and he went in for food. I had Arkady out first, but she only did a few short recalls and then just didn't seem interested in flying, so I put her away. These two will only take turns until I'm really sure about Aesop. Might not even fly together until next year. We'll see what happens, but I hope that if I keep things tight Aesop will be fine. He had a really, really tough experience last time he was lost, so I'm hoping that he learned from that.
I'm taking them to the park where we had the meetups instead of the other location because he flew off from there twice, so I don't want to call up any patterns of behaviour he might have made there at this fragile stage. Not to mention the park is much, much easier for me because I can just fly them from where I park the car. We're not out of the woods yet, though, because last year he was fine the first session and flew off the second. However, he has never flown off and not come back at this location, so my hope is that even if he gets a bit adventurous, he won't leave entirely. He did really well yesterday, though. I was really pleased. Fingers crossed next time goes just as well if I stick to the protocol. :]

First time in the net this year. At one point, all four briefly spooked and came straight to me like magnets, two landing on my head and the other two on each of my shoulders. Linnaeus free-flew yesterday, of course, but free flight for Aesop and Arkady will commence as soon as we have a day with ideal conditions. I pray that Aesop is ready to be a responsible adult like his father and that his wandering days are over. For those of you who have been following me long enough, you'll remember that Linnaeus had his own wandering incidents when he was younger. It *was* hard to keep going from there, but I had a strong feeling that he had learned from the experience and that the biological impulse to wander had abated. I was right, and he never flew off again. Likewise, it is hard to move forward with Aesop again after the 13-mile journey he went on last year, but it's an inevitable part of the process.

Havoc gave James a hard time yesterday, but he loves Alicia. :x
I know it's SUPER early, I just want to put some feelers out there sooner rather than later.

Just wanted to update you guys on Charlie the cockatoo and let you know that drove him down to his new home with , who has previously rehabilitated rescue birds and plans on working towards flight and free flight with him! It makes me so happy to see people helping birds like this! :]
゚・:*:・。☆ 。・:*:・゚✧ ゚・:*:・。☆ 。・:*:・゚
Is there anyone interested who would actually work with the bird to achieve the most progress possible? I would help you train the bird completely for free, including for free flight... Please message me.

Charlie is a 5 year old mixed bare eyed and citron cockatoo. He was surrendered to me by his owner who couldn’t take care of him anymore due to illness and old age. He has been living in the same cage for the past 5 years with very little toys. He is not hand tamed but from limited information I get from the owner that he was getting some interactions with people. Charlie is friendly and quiet. I only have him for 2 days so far so I will update as I get to know him more.
I am looking for a experienced foster home. Someone who is more experienced than me with a cockatoo. Please reach out to me or and spread the words. Charlie needs your help.

"Sui is a 3-year-old pineapple green-cheeked conure, gender unknown, and their birthday is 2/13. Their favorite foods are oranges, grapes, and sunflower seeds. It takes some time for Sui to open up, but, once they do, they're very friendly and like to cuddle up in your hair. They love being held gently. They also have their wings fully grown."
P.S. Sui is currently a solo bird, but, as always, I think it would be nice for him/her to ultimately have a friend (same species or similar). DM me to get in touch with Sui's owner, who loves them very much and wants them to find a wonderful home.

Here's Havoc hanging out with his new friend, Preston! Preston is a female umbrella cockatoo who is VERY sweet and gentle. They hung out a lot and mostly just respected each other's space, but the hope is that they'll become friends and free-fly together once Preston is trained for it. :]

Insane how much he improved within just a few days, huh? You guys didn't even see videos from the first day of flying where we had to go fetch him from where he landed on/near the ground a couple of times, lol.
゚・:*:・。☆ 。・:*:・゚✧ ゚・:*:・。☆ 。・:*:・゚
I didn't get his flight back from the treeline in these clips (waiting to do something cool until we're not paying attention has always kind of been his M.O.), but I *did* get it the second time he flew over there, so I'll post those clips tomorrow. :P P.S. Yes, it was the wind that kind of blew him over there. He has to get used to flying in it.
Havoc had an amazing day today! He is the best version of himself in this amazing environment, and I am endlessly grateful. Sorry for not posting more stuff just yet. I have to do online work for my job while on this trip, but I will get around to posting more pictures and videos. I am also getting somewhat emotional at this stage since I leave tomorrow. James posted some recalls from today which you can see if you look up Straw Hat Parrots on Facebook. :]

I love seeing Havoc be the happy, confident, and curious bird he was born to be. He just needs the right environment to flourish, which I am endlessly grateful to James of Straw Hat Parrots for offering him.
He's definitely not fit enough to handle big flights in the wind yet like the macaws, which did result in him landing on the ground a couple of times, but he was certainly very excited and interested in flying. Every time he took off was totally of his own accord. He even tried to fly with Luffy (B&G macaw) at one point, but by then he was definitely exhausted, lol. I know he'll improve with time and practice now that he's in the right environment to fly more regularly. I didn't get it on camera, but he went RIGHT back into the aviary when he saw us put food in, so no worries there! We'll see what he does tomorrow.

Havoc flew around a looooot more than what he's used to today. :0 He also met a couple of his new bird friends! I'll post again later. XD By the way, Straw Hat Parrots has an Instagram which I forgot to tag up until now, lol.

Back when he was locked up and neglected, I doubt this little bird could have ever imagined where life would take him, even in his wildest dreams. I am unspeakably blessed and grateful that Havoc is being welcomed as a free-flyer at Straw Hat Parrots. Tomorrow I'll be back to free-fly Havoc and see more of the birds, but for right now I'm just crying tears of joy and amazed that this is actually happening.
Currently at $283/1070 raised. Any donations are greatly appreciated and will help me pay off Havoc's aviary panels, which I bought on credit. :P

Thank you so much again! Even though I am still a little sad, I am now looking forward to seeing Havoc enjoy more freedom.

Thank you for celebrating Havoc's rehabilitation with me! I am trying to raise whatever donations I can to help with the cost of his new enclosure and the trip down to his new home, Straw Hat Parrots, in South Carolina. Any amount helps and is deeply appreciated!
Doing a bit better today, he's just not a fan of the cold. Luckily for him, South Carolina is much warmer. :P He also feels less secure because of the trees still being bare, but spring is right around the corner.
