Against the Grain Monster Truck

This was definitely the highlight of our season! Had the opportunity to visit my children’s school with the truck and tell them about how Against the Grain started and our mission to use our truck to spread the gospel and give people a positive message! The kids just ate it up, asked great questions, and were 100% engaged. Same goes with the high school/middle school children. Sometimes the most off the cuff plans are the best ones! Thanks Faith Christian Schools for having us!

Another successful car crush at RC Fest over the weekend! Awesome memories made, our fans are truly amazing! It’s amazing to be able to give back to an organization such as which provided the blood that saved my life 4 years ago when I was diagnosed with CML luekemia. There’s a saying in the business, there’s drivers who have gone over, and drivers who have yet to go over. Well tonight this driver gone over….

First rollover for me and possibly the first time this truck has been rolled since 2004 or 2005. I’ll have to check in on that…

Truck is fine, we came out for freestyle and will be ready for round 2 tomorrow Monster Truck Throwdown at Sycamore Speedway!

It’s been a rough week here at ATG, between personal matters, picking up the trailer, and getting sick for a couple days, I’m trying to make up for lost time. A lot of work to do to get ready for our next show, but 99% of the parts are here and just need assembled and painted!

Thanks everyone who has helped. New owners will be picking up in the next few weeks. Truck is headed out to the east coast!

I had some questions on how I made the RV style wiring system on my gooseneck machine work with the DOT style wiring on my semi. This Jackalopee convertor box is the simplest way to do it. I plug my RV plug from the trailer into the “outbound” side of the box with the plug underneath it. I take the green wire on the box “inbound” side and plug it into the tractor. This way I can swap back and forth between my pickup and my semi tractor just by plugging into the convertor box. Everything is clearly labeled inside the box and setup is super easy.

Reunited after 3 months. With how things have been going lately, I’m just glad to have it and all my stuff back at this point.

Let’s just say I’m glad this weekend is over. Between all the drama of not having our race trailer, race date getting postponed, the weather, and all the details and logistics to make this thing work, it was a pretty stressful weekend.

Made a qualifying pass in racing and the brand new rear driveshaft let go. In the process something must have bound up with the driveshaft containment and it broke apart on us. We were able to borrow some parts and make a few hits in freestyle when the drivers side rear spindle pulled out of the knucke. I could tell things were not going good after the second hit so I was just doing my best to still put on a show without destroying everything under the truck.

Regardless we made it through and we met some new friends along the way, received a helping hand from some friends, and put smiles on kids faces. It was a trip that led us down some paths I never expected to go on. But I guess that’s just what the Lord had in store for us.

We are working on sourcing more parts to get us fixed up. This 23 year old truck is just showing its age and it’s time for some fresh hardware. We have some time off in the next couple weeks to get repairs made so we can hopefully be ready for Monster Truck Throwdown at Sycamore Speedway July 19-20.

Found us an overnight home for the truck to stay dry overnight from rains coming through the area.

We have everything finally moved into the fairgrounds and under roof away from incoming weather! Huge thanks to Jay Cassill and Scott Sperry for the assistance this weekend! It is greatly appreciated!
