Last week we had to make the difficult decision to say goodbye to Henry. My heart still hurts. I miss him. Today was the first full day at the studio without him with me, and the first evening home alone. The day was so quiet. I miss the sound of his nails against the floor when he walks. I even miss him getting me up in the middle of the night to go potty, or having me let him out just to run around the house, come in side, and do it again. Rest in peace. The last few months have been tough, but Sunday was Henry's 16th birthday. We weren't able to celebrate with a cake or biscuits, because we have to watch his diet, but he got a few treats for being good.

We have been missing for a while. Last July Henry was diagnosed with the onset of Kidney disease. We put him on a special diet and things where going good. Then in October he started coughing, I called the vet and they were 3 months out for appointments. Checked to see if he was up to date with his kennel cough vaccine and he was. He continued to cough off and on and was sleeping alot. (Didn't think much of his sleeping considering his age.) The new year starts and he starts to look thin, boney thin, except his belly which is huge. Schedule his yearly check-up, find out Henry is in Congestive heart failure. After ex-rays they confirm that he has fluid built up in his abdomen. They drain 2.5 lbs of fluid from him! We schedule an appointment with the Cardiologist. The cardiologist puts him on meds and things seems to be working, until he stops eating. On his recheck the meds they give him for his heart have now but his kidneys in stage 3 Kidney failure. All diuretics meds where dropped and we spent a couple weeks adjusting meds and trying to get him to eat. Which brings us to today, we haven't had a recheck on blood values, but Henry's eating, and it seems he is more stable. We know at this point we have limited time left, but enjoying every day we get. Looking optimistic to celebrated his 16th birthday in 9 days!!
