Etsy: et Hand-drawn greeting cards with heart & sass!

Marion Claire is named after my beautiful and strong grandmothers. (Marion Martin and Patricia Claire Oliver) They have inspired me to create designs that are truthful, heartfelt, and of course, sassy. The two of them had the perfect balance of sugar and spice (or heart and sass) in their personalities and have passed those qualities on to me. The goal is that my products portray that heart and sa

As we head into the home stretch of the holiday season, I want to give some praise to small business supporters.🙌🏼
You guys literally paid all my utility bills in November and December and I cannot begin to explain how humbling that is. Even when I felt like I wasn’t putting nearly as much time or energy as I’d like to, you were all champions for my baby side hustle. Sharing posts, liking pictures, buying products and leaving reviews...all of it makes a huge difference and not a single one of those actions went unnoticed.
This Christmas, every single gift I’m giving has at least one piece from a local, small business. As you head out to finish up your shopping this weekend, I encourage you to keep it local. The items you buy are not only a gift to your loved ones, but a gift to the shop owners and community as well.
Thank you for the gift of heat and lights during these extra cold winter months. I cannot wait to show you what I have planned for 2020 thanks to your encouragement.✨💕

T H A N K F U L
There are a lot of new faces around here and I’m so glad.🤗After this page almost doubled its followers overnight, I cannot help but be thankful for the friends and family who made that possible.
To catch our new friends up, Marion Claire Stationery is named after and inspired by my grandmothers, Marion Martin and Patricia Claire Oliver (pictured here).
On June 11, 2003, Marion passed away, leaving me devastated as she was my last chance at having a relationship with a grandparent. That evening, I told myself I would one day make a card business that told it like it is. (My “This Sucks” card was the original inspiration for this business and is still one of my best sellers.)
Thanksgiving today was spent like so many before it. Gathered around with the Olivers for food and football. Who’s around the table seems to change from year to year but the meaning for gathering remains the same.
Welcome to the page, new friends. Soon enough I hope you’ll all be family here.
Tomorrow kicks off the largest sale I’ve hosted in my Etsy shop and I welcome you to browse around in the meantime. Details will be announced tomorrow morning and the sale lasts all weekend. Happy Thanksgiving, I am thankful for each of you.🍁🦃💛

Reviews like these make the late nights packing orders, hand cramps from writing thank you notes, and daily trips to the post office all worth it.
About 120 men are getting this card tomorrow. It’s all worth it knowing they deserve these words and the more personal ones that will be written inside, too.

Tonight, we celebrate the end of Father’s Day season.
I cannot say thank you enough after this year! I would have never guessed that Father’s Day would be the busiest time of the year for me when I started this business, but it consistently has been, and this year topped them all.
I hope all your dads, stepdads, baby daddies, grandpas and uncles; and your fiancés and boyfriends who stepped up for your kiddos have the best day on Sunday. I have a few other great projects on my plate right now, but for tonight, thanks for this bottle of wine, friends!
You’re making my dreams come true.🎉💕

After sending over 20 of these out this weekend, this card has officially become the new best seller.
That tells me there’s still a lot of great guys out there stepping up for the sake of other people getting a better chance at life, mostly kids, and that gives me a lot of hope for the world we’re in today.❤️

My momma is the true artist of our family. This picture of her is at the Ellwood City, Pennsylvania Arts, Crafts, and Food Festival (the annual 4th of July weekend celebration in our hometown) in 1988; selling her paintings and enjoying the park.
26 years after this picture was taken, I was a vendor for the first time ever at that same festival...and I shared a booth with my momma; selling paintings and cards and people watching like pros.
When I first started making cards, not only was my mom my booth buddy for all of my shows the first year, but she also gave me a handful of drawings she said I could retouch and use. These little flowers were one of those drawings, so I thought they were only fitting on a Mother’s Day card.
One of my favorite things about my mom is her artistic ability. I know in a way that trait has trickled down to me but I could never paint like she does. A lot of people don’t know she has such a talent, but boy does this sweet girl know what to do with an easel.
I remember so clearly one time when my grandma Marion was still alive and we were having dinner with a group of family friends. My mom had gifted one of the other women a painting of hers. As some chit-chatted about it later on, my grandma proudly sat up and said, “I don’t know where she got all that talent, but I’m so glad every time I see it.”
We won’t be vending together this year at Ellwood’s Festival, but I’m hoping to make it back for a day to enjoy the park and the people watching; a trait passed down to both of us from Marion🎨💕

I’m not a parent, but I feel like this is one of the best ways to picture this card. Make sure your fellow s**t-picker-upper knows how much you appreciate them.

Thank you notes and twine.💕
Long overdue for an update but I’m currently in one of the busiest seasons of my life and I’m simultaneously loving it and fearing I won’t get it all done. But I’ve never been one to back down from a challenge, especially when it involves doing things I love. Stay tuned!

The most empowering and terrifying thing you can tell an artist or designer (or at least me) is, “You have full creative freedom.”
😬😬😬
The request for this custom card came with that phrase and the only requirements of needing this song lyric and the color purple.
This card gave me the “umph” to draw a phonograph...finally. And allowed me to tap into my favorite creative process...a song on repeat.
I’m the queen of repeating songs over and over and over because I cannot get enough and that is my favorite way to finish up a design, too. For wedding invites, one question I always ask the couple is what song their first dance will be to. Then I can tap into that mindset before creating something they will hold onto forever. Music is essential to me and helps fuel my creativity. I love being able to include it in my process in this kind of a special way for people.
I never heard of this song (Dizzy from the Comedown by Turnover) until making this little gem but it’s turned into an instant favorite.
Also, expect to see this record player again on something available to everyone soon! He’s a cutie I know I will need to use again.🎶💕

One of the reasons I started my business was for the envelope options.
For as long as I can remember, I have always picked a different envelope than the one that it was paired with in the store.
Even when I was a little thing, I remember always taking forever picking a card and the envelope I thought looked best with it for every occasion while my brother rolled his eyes and my parents waited. This process only grew as I got older and was only wasting my own time while shopping alone.
I’m limited in color options these days and currently feeling a great need to create and add more colors to this selection!!🎨💕

Gonna let you guys in on a little secret...I do a reeeeal good Forrest Gump impression.
Forrest Gump has remained in my top five for movie picks for a longgg time so it was only natural for me to make a card like this one, even though the part of the movie where he says this has nothing to do with Valentine's Day.
I love Forrest. I love his undying love for Jenny. I love his story and how it's told. And I especially love this scene.
Forrest hands Jenny the box and sheepishly says he ate some of the chocolates he bought special for her, and what does she do? Introduces him to their son. She fills his heart with instant, grand, and overwhelming love.
Life is like a box of chocolates. I hope that no matter what you get, you respond with love. Love changes everything.❤️

This picture showed up in my memories today and instantly made me smile.

It's a handwritten note by a high school friend of mine to one of her patrons, she originally shared this picture two years ago. She bought a few of these note card packs from me at my first craft show in our hometown, while she was already on the rise as an artist in Pittsburgh.

I love knowing how much we each have grown in our work since then. Following along with her work constantly inspires me and cannot talk enough about how much I love everything she makes!

Check out her page, Crystal Latimer, Fine Artist, to witness her beautiful, graceful, and evolving art.🎨💕

The first sale and last sale of 2018 included at least one "This Sucks" card.
Seems spot on for 2018. This year was HARD. Although I met a lot of goals, personally and professionally, I'd rather not relive this year and am more than ready for the refreshing feeling of a new year.
2018 brought some shop changes, our first "break" since opening, and now we have lots to share come 2019! While I wouldn't want to relive 2018, I wouldn't change it because dammmn were those changes needed.
Here's to 2019! A year full of new opportunities, new cards, and the same sass you all seem to love.💕🍾
