Residential & Commercial Cleaning
When you give dad the keys to the job site. No one better to watch over the keys to jobs then my dad. The man who got me started on the path we are on♥️. Miss him so much
The good, bad and ugly;
I see so many post on cleaning and organizing pages asking what cleaners to use and/or how to clean something. I wasn’t big on buying every cleaner in the cleaning isle but I have bought many trying to get something clean the best and fastest way, of course without damaging the product. Now we have about 5 products and multiple tools.
Glass cleaners (not all glass cleaners work)
Clorox bleach to sanitize some areas
Bar keepers friend (for the hard stains, even rust)
Goof off
We do have a few others
Oreck vacuum is our favorite vacuum that will last so much longer and do so much better with construction dust and the pesky little metal shavings that get in the carpet
Shop vac
Handheld scrubber has helped me on tough spots
Floor orbiters
Loving the Bissell hydro steam
Along with the commercial floor machines for large areas
And of course our flat mops (I love the bucket system because it cleans the mop head and I don’t have to wash the mop head out by hand)
Plus we have found tips and tricks on how to get things clean that doesn’t take forever.
So this comes to the bad and ugly….
I remember one job specifically that was out of town and we were cleaning on a weekend years ago. I want to say over 12 years ago at least. The flooring company did a horrible job removing excessive grout. We kept cleaning, we kept running to the store to buy new products. We were getting exhausted and down to the wire. I ended up in tears. We never leave a job until it is done! We figured it out and did it but let me say construction cleaning isn’t like wiping your countertops down. We run into new things even after 20 something years but now we have learned so much that we can figure it out pretty fast.
Last week while cleaning Goodwill there was so much fine dust it didn’t look good enough after running a dust mop over it about five times. The superintendent didn’t think we would have to do much since the floors were getting polished just before we cleaned the building. So I finally had an idea!!!! I took one of the dust mops into the janitors sinks and got it wet. It worked perfectly and didn’t take hours. I could have used the small flat mop and we would have been there all night but this did great. This is after at least 25 years of cleaning. New problems hit you and new ideas make them work!
Spending another weekend getting this beast ready for the floors to be polished!
We are excited to start this two buildings across the street from each other next! Total is 89,000 s.f. of condos and apartments!
Goodwill in Graham complete! We had fun shining you up but I definitely got my steps in after dust mopping twice and then mopping twice. Nice, bright and shiny ♥️ and of course one of the best built because Kirkland builds the good ones!
Started this one last weekend and will be working on it off and on the next few weeks until this approximately 45,000 s.f. building is complete!
We start this one tomorrow, Goodwill in Graham here we come. Staying busy is absolutely amazing. Trying to do better at getting before and after photos
We have been cleaning the windows at this building every spring and fall market for almost 20 years! We love working with Lee Industries and their amazing employees that have been there just as long if not longer! Completed yesterday for Market. It has been fun scheduling and making up teams to get these jobs completed within their timelines. Market peeps enjoy the week
Completing another one! This is a partial upfit on the 2nd floor of the Pinnacle building in downtown High Point.
You don’t realize how much dirt is on the floor until you start cleaning! Also somehow rough cleans can kick your butt and take a few hours longer to recover! Completed over the weekend!!!!
We completed this back in May♥️

This is how we are starting 2025♥️. Pre meeting was today and I am so excited!
I found this neat little attachment at dollar tree it is to clean corners, small areas especially in bathrooms. I used this and the Bissell hydro steam to clean the bathroom floor and never had to get on my hands and knees!
The first time I waxed VCT Jay wasn’t with me. I was out of town and the job only had one break room that needed to get waxed. This is probably 10 or more years ago when we still applied with a string mop. I could clean pretty much anything myself. Now waxing the VCT was new to me. I prepped and cleaned the floor which is honestly a lot hard then you think. Even with scrubbers/orbiters it is a lot of hands and knees with a razor blade. Somehow tar get on it and sometimes scratches. You have to hold the razor blade a certain way and remove the top part while not making any scratches or damage. So I get it done I applied the wax and it looked like crap. At this point I am freaking out. I felt I ruined it. Was sure we were going to need to strip and start over. It was getting late and I was by myself with a timeline. I call Jay to see how to fix it. Explaining over the phone didn’t help. So I called one of his friends that had a full time job. Beg him to come help me fix my mess. Promising he only needs to stay long enough to help me with this one room. Thankfully he did and we/he got it level! Now waxing can be a pain because you don’t wax all at once and even it will show!!! Then we went to waxing with flat mops which makes it so much easier but you have to quickly wax and keep from letting areas dry so it blends good. This was around 6,000 s.f. In and out of rooms so we had to blue tape the rooms so we could separate from the hallway. Even with multiple people it would have dried too fast in areas before we could get to the next. Thankfully there wasn’t any areas that looked like we didn’t do the whole thing at one time. It took about 35-45 minutes each coat for all the rooms (4 coats). Then about 30 minutes for the hallway and again 4 coats. By 5:30 am everything was waxed. Walking the job at the end made the all night and really all weekend working worth it! We don’t put timelines on the jobs we make sure the quality is good! Yes we try to get them done and bust or a$$ to make sure we profit but we would rather stay until we are satisfied then walk away with it not perfect!
Hanes 5th floor completed! Worked for a new Superintendent and PM on this one but have done a few jobs for this company. We have always worked until the job is completed even if it is past our bedtime to make sure we don’t get complaints. One of the things I say or keep in mind is to take an extra 10 minutes to walk through and make sure everything is clean. There are two reasons for that. One it isn’t worth going back to do a 10 minute touch up when it is going to take longer to drive, unload and load your supplies if you go back. The second thing is it feels better to get a complement then a complaint! Oh and one more reason…. It is so freaking satisfying to see something go from a mess to shiny and pretty! Some pictures of after we cleaned, along with a few before

I keep noticing post about dirty floors even after people clean. I have to clean ours good because we (my husband and daughter) picked white with marble pattern vinyl. I wish I would have taken a before picture and during but give it a day I will try to remember to add them 🤣. We have had so much rain that no matter what we do they still get muddy after these little monsters walk in (second picture). I do run my robot so I don’t have too much hair to clean out of the tank. When I deep clean I actually keep the flat mop wet and don’t squeegee all the water off. I do a quick mop and hit the edges and then run over it with our Bissell hydro steam. I hadn’t cleaned the floors good for a few days because I was focused on getting paperwork done but I didn’t want to go into the week with dirty floors. So I had to get them done tonight. Just remember don’t put any cleaners that will make the clean water soapy and walk yourself out of the room. This way the floors dry clean without any foot prints. Now we can walk on the floors and not get dirty feet or socks. I can’t stand walking on floors that are dirty. I will throw something on my feet if they aren’t completely clean. Oh and I am OCD so I have to deep clean when I clean anything. Plus when you squeegee the mop head it gets the dirty water off. You can also add a little tide, baking soda and dawn dish soap (not a lot so you don’t leave a residue) or vinegar to the mop water so it cleans the flat mop pad between each use. Oh and I do add a little odaban in the clean water tank so when it self cleans the brush doesn’t get smelly.
One day I will figure out to edit videos but for now I want to mention baking soda is amazing to get rid of smells! Now just putting a box in an area might not work or at least fast enough but cover a solid surface with baking soda let it sit about 24 hours and then vacuum it up and the smell will be gone. You can also wait to vacuum it when you don’t smell the stinky anymore.
NOTE: if you are using it on carpet or fabric make sure it is completely dry and doesn’t get wet. If not it will leave a white residue
There are so many cleaning products on the market and there are only a few you truly need! Honestly the rest are a waste of money, space and sanity and some can even damage or leave a buildup….. follow for and update. We will post tricks, tips and must haves
Sometimes it is hard to throw things out. Especially with the economy the way it is but make it a goal to go around the house and get rid of 3 things! I know it is hard but at the end of the day I felt so much better!
Looking back over 20 something years of cleaning I will say it is a different feeling when you clean anything that has new items. We know how to clean and without damage! So when you clean a place that has used items it is a different feeling when things can’t be fixed but need to be replaced! We know when glass is soft. We know how to hold a razor blade if needed. We know what items to use. One of the first places I started cleaning was apartments and wow! So many people and honestly so many original cleaners don’t know how to clean without damaging an item. Remember this can be a costly problem. At the same time I need to remember when pricing and deciding jobs we take on. I have noticed we are OCD so it definitely isn’t encouraging to clean something that isn’t perfect at the end. At the same time when it comes to certain commercial projects that don’t get a full remodel we can work with what we are cleaning. We also can see what other cleaners miss or damage in public places. Such a love hate situation
We have always said it is either clean or it’s not and when we quote and clean our jobs we go for quality not quantity! Especially when we clean medical, restaurants, etc. So instead of pushing around dirt and just getting the worst we clean and remove it. If that is the type of company you are looking for and the quality you’re wanting then we are the company for you.
First let me start by saying we are very, very, very proud parents tonight! It is only Tuesday and we have been scheduling every day! We are completely booked up. Four of us are out of town working on a job and received a call for another yesterday that move in was pushed up to tomorrow. Landon said yes to getting it done. After work which actually ended up being after he fixed his truck that broke down on the way to his full time job. So he gets the truck back on the road with some help from a coworker which is also one of Jay’s childhood friends. Kiersten had loaded the mustang (yes I have even taught them how to fit cleaning supplies in a small car if need be)😜, then they recruited Esteban and headed to the unseen job. There might have been in a little shock as it wasn’t normal construction cleaning…. They did it, they even ran to the store for a few more supplies and completed the task. The most amazing part is they actually enjoyed it more because they knew what to do and just got it done without someone telling them what to do. They might have joked around saying if there is a problem just remember we sent the B team but I am impressed and proud. I didn’t bother them, we walked them through any questions and knew they are both OCD so they would do their best. They even scrubbed with scotch Brite pads. Even though the floors still need a floor scrub (to be determined) they did an amazing job! So this is why I wanted to teach my kids any and everything along with whatever they want to learn for their future! Kiersten just told me I don’t ever want to run a business and or be a manager but after today she had a completely different feeling! So after my long rant of my amazing teens the first 6 pictures of the before and the rest are of their after clean! Then on the Asheville side the oldest cleaned the windows on the lift today. Pictures to come of that job.
When I was a child my dad switched jobs and started in construction. Between him and one of my friends moms I started cleaning some as a teen. Also worked multiple different jobs until I got into cleaning more and more then my little business got bigger and I learned more and more. Let me say when I was in high I took childcare classes and honestly thought I was going to own a daycare one day. I loved babysitting, I volunteered at a daycare when I was too young to work and then I worked at a daycare. That changed because even though I love kids being in one place was not for me! I also loved cleaning design and decorating! Well the cleaning business took off and that is what I stayed with. Sometimes I do go into jobs and se things that really need to be cleaned and have to do even if it isn’t in the scope. If you looked at this mirror from a afar it didn’t look dusty or dirty but up close it definitely needed attention. A quick wipe wasn’t going to get it! I thought and tested a section for two reasons.
One I never want to damage someone else’s items and two I want to figure out the best, easiest and fastest way to get it completely clean. There were actually two of these and the second one went faster but I almost dreaded it at first. Then after they were done I was satisfied, motivated and ready to keep deep cleaning. So much that I am having a hard time getting to sleep. We get started and don’t want to stop until we are done! I am the same way at the house. Every night before bed I have to clean out the sink, run the dishwasher, wipe the counters down and clean the floors. Kiersten’s boyfriend how do you vacuum (it is a mop vacuum) the floors every night at bedtime🤣? I told him I have to for my peace of mind and I can stand to walk barefoot on crumbs or dirty floors! We are huge in it is either clean or it’s not. Jay started telling our employees that years ago and we will make sure if it can be cleaned that it is clean! If it can look brand new or is brand new then when we leave that is what we expect! There is nothing better then walking out of a truly clean space
No more bugs or dust! Don’t forget the lights
Let’s spring clean. Start from the ceiling and work down. Get a duster and a pole that will reach and isn’t too heavy. Go over all crown modeling, any ledges and down the corners of the walls. a few tricks so you don’t miss anything is walk in and work your way around the room. Also either turn lights on or off as you complete each section so you remember where you have been! There is nothing worse then forgetting an area or closet! Remember it is either clean or it’s not! Also you might have to get a ladder for some areas but first we are getting the pesky cobwebs and dust! Yes they can come back which is one of the reasons why cleaning is never truly done! Now someone can hit the worst spots to keep it maintained as much as possible throughout the year
