Want to thank everyone who came out to the ALPCA Chesapeake Region Late Spring Meet - Mechanicsville, VA yesterday. It was a great time and the new indoor venue really proved itself worthy with the rain we had throughout the day, LOL. Looking forward to seeing everyone at Mount Airy in August and we are tentatively planning to have next year's Mechanicsville meet on Saturday, May 17, 2025 back again at Fairmount Christian Church.

Thanks again!

The ALPCA Chesapeake Region Late Spring Meet - Mechanicsville, VA is fast approaching! Wanted to share that we have a couple of loading/unloading areas at the meet site for those bringing plates to sell and/or trade. You can drive up to both to unload if you have a lot of plates to bring in (one is adjacent to the event entrance and the other is in back of the building). Please don't plan to park there for the duration so others may have use of these areas as well. Parking lots are close by and all entrances can accomodate rolling carts. If you have any questions about Saturday's meet, contact Larry Haake IV.

UPDATE - All tables have been sold, and we've started a waiting list. To get on the list, or to cancel your table reservation, please contact Jack or Rick. If you cancel prior to the meet, we'll refund your money.

Our Mount Airy, Maryland plate meet is now only one week away! We still have a few tables available. If you thought it was too late to get one, you're still in luck. However, we need advance payment of $15 per table to reserve it/them for you. At this late date, PayPal is the way to get money to us quickly. Message, e-mail, or call meet hosts Jack Hollingsworth or Rick Kretschmer to see if there are any tables left and for payment instructions.

On the other hand, if you have reserved and paid for table(s) and will be unable to attend, please let one of us know ASAP so that someone else can use them. We will gladly refund your payment as long as you let us know before the meet. No-shows will not get refunds.

Full details about the meet are on our website:

This Saturday is THE day!!! Our Mechanicsville Meet is ready to begin!

17/05/2023

If you're coming to Mechanicsville on Saturday, and you've let your ALPCA membership lapse, please pay your 2023 dues now or be prepared to do so at the meet. We know that some of you are in that situation.

If paying ahead of the meet, do so electronically, so you can show us the confirmation. Otherwise, you can print off a membership form from the ALPCA website, fill it out, and bring it, or we'll have forms available. A check payable to ALPCA, Inc. for $36 or $46, depending on how fast you want the magazine delivered, would be simplest for us, but we'll also take cash or you can pay electronically at the meet.

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but we've got to take care of business. Have a safe trip to the meet and we'll see you there!

We are just over a week away until our Spring Meet in Mechanicsville. Weather forecast as of today (5/11/23) is calling for overcast and high of 78. A far cry from last year's 97 degrees. Thanks to the large pavillion, it's a rain or shine event.

We just learned that one of the members who attended our Mount Airy, MD regional meet on August 20 had COVID and was apparently contagious while at the meet. If you were at the meet, please be aware that you might have been exposed. The member in question did not have a table, so he probably wasn't hanging around in any one place for very long.

We may be done with COVID, but it's not done with us. Stay safe out there!

July is upon us and it's a big month for plate collectors here in the Chesapeake Region with the International Convention in our own backyard in Hampton, VA! Here is our current newsletter which talks about the upcoming Mt. Airy meet in August and recaps our spring meet in Mechanicsville. Enjoy!

With our spring meet now behind us, be sure to mark your calendar for our summer meet on Saturday, August 20th at St. Michael Catholic Church in Mt. Airy, Maryland. More details soon.

23/05/2022

I can with 99% confidence say this wasn’t left by us, but on the 1% chance it was - anybody forget this Saturday? Ruritan didn’t want to toss it before checking with us.

As you probably know, the winner of the 2021 ALPCA Best Plate competition was Delaware's Support Pollinators plate. Delaware, of course, is in Chesapeake Region territory. ALPCA president Cyndi McCabe will present the Best Plate Award to Delaware dignitaries on Thursday, May 26 at 10:00 am at the St. Jones Reserve, 818 Kitts Hummock Rd., Dover DE 19901. This location was chosen by the state due to it being a pollinator-friendly site.

ALPCA members who live nearby or who are willing to travel are encouraged to attend this presentation. It would be appropriate to wear business attire such as a coat and tie, if possible.

21/05/2022

Thanks to everyone who came out today for our spring meet. Over 50 collectors and guests attended. See you in Hampton for the convention and again at our summer meet in Mt. Airy!!!

21/05/2022

Off to a fantastic start!!!

21/05/2022

Good morning and happy meet day!!! Gates will open at 6:45am. See you there!

We have T-shirts!!! Hi, this is Rick. We've had 50 T-shirts made up with this awesome design on the front, in adult sizes S to 3XL, available in your choice of either light yellow or light blue. (This background color does not accurately depict the light yellow.) I was at the T-shirt shop late this afternoon and got to see an actual shirt printed with this design. It's even more amazing than this mock-up. We will have the shirts for sale at our actual cost of $16 each at the Mechanicsville meet on Saturday. Buy one and wear it at the convention in July to show your Chesapeake Region pride!
