Creating beautiful and meaningful timepieces is my dream. But the trigger to make it happen, as it often did, came from an unforgettable experience.
In late 2016, I was sitting by my daughter’s hospital bedside with tears. Those weren’t happy tears. She was being treated in the intensive care unit of the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne following an operation.
During those sleepless nights by my daughter’s hospital bedside, I often looked uninterruptedly at her, thinking I’d give anything just for my little girl to be well again, to live whatever dream that she’d have.
Deep down in my mind, I also asked myself “have I lived mine?” That question has never faded in my mind.
No guts no glory
Most of us are born, raised and educated differently. It is not easy to agree on important life questions.
Ask respected and successful people – businessmen, scientists, artists, athletes, philosophers – “what is more important – their life or their successes?”
They are successful because they have done ‘something’ meaningful with their life. They have served others well, so well in fact.
They have lived out their dreams. They dared. Blood, sweat, tears, whatever it takes.
Most of us will build someone else’s dreams at some point in our life. Nothing wrong with that. We all start somewhere.
But the majority of us will build someone else’s dreams in our entire life.
Is that the life we all want?
If we don’t start living our life, living our dream now, when? A bit of everyday is better than ‘never’.
Every single person that has ever lived a meaningful life, they all have the guts to live their dreams, be it Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Edison, Steve Jobs, Bill Gate, Mark Zuckerberg.
They have the guts to fail and keep on going. To serve someone bigger themselves. To build something bigger than themselves.
Don’t you have the guts to do it?
You don’t have to be like them. But live like they have.
Be the captain of your life.
Our dream
Drowned in this crazy busy life, it is so easy, for everyone, to forget that ‘time’ is one of the most important assets (along with their health and family), they will ever have.
But how do most people spend their ‘time’ on? Their health?Their family?Their dream?
Obsessed with this question and with my love for ‘classic’ timepieces, I started this project, Fleur De Lis Watch Pty Ltd, with a close friend in early 2017.
Why not ‘smart’ watches? Have people got enough ‘smart’ devices ruling their life? They need a (constant) reminder that they should rule their life, not their devices.
Our timepieces represent our way of life: have guts, be daring, live your dream, rule your life.
But don’t people just like fashionable watches? Fashion comes and goes, hence the word ‘fashion’.
Brands that last mean something else to their followers, more than just fashion. They are their followers’ ways of life – their identities.
But isn’t it hard for people to buy this way of life in this crazy busy world? When their pain and struggle become too much to bear, they will realize and appreciate this way of life.
Nonsense? How about increasing mental struggle in an increasingly comfortable and convenient world?
We want to inspire people to live their dreams. Too ambitious?
Every great human achievement all started from somewhere, by big dreamers.
Living our dream
It took courage and hard work to make it happen. Despite ups and downs and many more challenges ahead, this has been a worthwhile journey, for we are both living our dream.
We believe in perfection and in the courage to make the differences. It is the relentless pursuit of perfection and the courage to challenge the status quo that has helped artisan watchmakers create the best timepieces.
We follow in their footsteps, always striving for perfection and striving to make the differences. For the greater good.
The greatest encouragement to us on our journey is to have you live your dream and rule your life.
Sought through the field of life
Deep in the sea, up in the sky
Close your eyes, peer deep inside
Bathed in your soul, an ocean of truths
Shone a light, lighten the path
Lost no more, a sparkle of God
You are!
