"We are almost in the middle of this sacred month of Ramadan - Alhamdulillah
I've been thinking about how we can enhance our productivity post-Ramadan, acknowledging that even during Ramadan, we often encounter fatigue and tiredness, typically around the middle or end of the month.
So, how can we maintain our momentum during and after Ramadan?
To sustain productivity, it's crucial to understand this ebb and flow of motivation.
Initially, when motivation is high, it's advisable to capitalize on this momentum by dedicating intense efforts to the task at hand. This can be likened to a sprint, where one expends significant energy to make substantial progress. That's the start of Ramadan.
However, it's unrealistic to maintain such high levels of intensity indefinitely. Therefore, after the initial sprint, it's essential to transition into a more sustainable pace. Breaking down tasks into manageable segments and establishing a lighter schedule, even if progress seems slow. That's the middle of Ramadan.
For instance, consider a course or lecture series where each episode lasts approximately one hour. You could schedule it once a week or divide it into segments, completing one episode per week, whether in a single sitting or 10 minutes every day. While engaging with the material, you'll rediscover excitement for it. Capitalize on these moments, diving back into a sprint. Learning motivation tends to come in waves, so ride the wave. During the rest of the time, adopt a maintenance mode and avoid becoming discouraged.
Likewise, if you initially prayed Qiyam al-layl for an extended duration, you can shorten the time if you feel fatigued. Or, if you are reading one Juzz of the Quran one day, you can plan to read half of the Juzz or a Ruku a day post-Ramadan.
The Prophet of Allah SAW was asked about the most beloved good deed to Allah, to which he replied, أَدْوَمُهُ وَإِنْ قَلَّ (That which is most regular and constant even if it is little in amount)” (Muslim)
So, let's ride the wave of Ramadan motivation, embracing the journey with all its ups and downs.
Let's channel our initial enthusiasm into sustained productivity that extends beyond the sacred month, enriching our lives until we find ourselves welcoming the next Ramadan, inshallah."
"Surely those who say, “Our Lord is Allah,” and then remain steadfast, the angels descend upon them, ˹saying,˺ “Do not fear, nor grieve. Rather, rejoice in the good news of Paradise, which you have been promised." Fussilat 41:30

"Walking into this Ramadan, as with every Ramadan, the content of our conversations was overwhelmingly focused on the internal state and personal relationship with Allah. "I want to improve my relationship with Allah." "I need this spiritual upliftment." "Ramadan is my recharge." And it should be, of course. But 10 days in, Ramadan has revealed that we're willing to start fights in the masjid, speak impatiently with our family members, and disregard our obligations to others at work or home --- all in the name of preserving that spiritual high.
Allah specifically corrected the tendency to compartmentalize spirituality from righteousness. He said that internal spirituality and external righteousness are inseparable. Without one, you cannot find a genuine form of the other. Allah reminds us in this verse that righteousness is not to only follow the motions of His Orders, not only to fulfill our ritualistic worship. Birr -- and taqwa -- is to worship Him and obey Him AND to demonstrate the increased taqwa in our hearts through our interactions, engagements, and deeds involving those around us.
While we are in the month of fasting, the deed Allah tells us is prescribed to increase taqwa, we should recall that taqwa internally manifests as birr, righteousness, externally. Coming closer to Allah should mean that we strive to embody even a fraction of the mercy and compassion we desire from Allah with others around us - although Allah's Mercy and Compassion are limitless where ours is inevitably finite, miniscule in comparison.
This month, let's challenge ourselves to worship Allah more perfectly, and to be better to others. As much as we set goals for our Quran reading, we should set goals to increase our involvement in the community where we can support our brothers and sisters. While we set goals to pray qiyam each night, we should commit to controlling our anger and approaching others with a kind word before a critical one. When we do dhikr and tadabbur (reflection) we should take account of the poor behaviors, ingratitude, or harshness we have normalized in our relationships.
Allah's Deen is comprehensive. It's on us to practice it comprehensively.
May Allah increase us in taqwa and birr this blessed month and be more merciful with us than we are with one another, Ameen."
"Righteousness is not in turning your faces towards the east or the west. Rather, the righteous are those who believe in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Books, and the prophets; who give charity out of their cherished wealth to relatives, orphans, the poor, ˹needy˺ travellers, beggars, and for freeing captives; who establish prayer, pay alms-tax, and keep the pledges they make; and who are patient in times of suffering, adversity, and in ˹the heat of˺ battle. It is they who are true ˹in faith˺, and it is they who are mindful ˹of Allah˺." Al-Baqara 2:177

"When I recite ayat ul kursi, I think about what a disaster it would be if I had to rely solely on myself. I would fall apart if I didn't get sleep for a mere 24 hours. Even with some rest, I would feel drowsy without my morning coffee ☕️
Alhamdullilah, we have a Lord and Protector who never gets drowsy, never needs sleeps, and never gets tired of taking care of us ♥️"
"Allah! There is no god ˹worthy of worship˺ except Him, the Ever-Living, All-Sustaining. Neither drowsiness nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who could possibly intercede with Him without His permission? He ˹fully˺ knows what is ahead of them and what is behind them, but no one can grasp any of His knowledge—except what He wills ˹to reveal˺. His Seat encompasses the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of both does not tire Him. For He is the Most High, the Greatest." Al-Baqara 2:255

"Ramaḍân is the month in which the Quran was revealed as a guide for humanity with clear proofs of guidance and the standard ˹to distinguish between right and wrong˺. So whoever is present this month, let them fast. But whoever is ill or on a journey, then ˹let them fast˺ an equal number of days ˹after Ramaḍân˺. Allah intends ease for you, not hardship, so that you may complete the prescribed period and proclaim the greatness of Allah for guiding you, and perhaps you will be grateful." Al-Baqara 2:185

"In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful,
If we look at this ayah and Dua of Musa AS, with comparing it to the the present day world. I don’t think all of us understood how much control the present day tyrannical regime has with their wealth. It is sometimes difficult to find substitutes for our boycott list. We have come to realise how dependent we have been upon their businesses. I don’t think they seem to have a religion as much as they love money which gives them power and seeming control. Whether they are enemies or allies; one thing which causes the formation of allies is money. Many have not spoken out against genocide because of their fear of losing - money.
We also see their soldiers eating various foods and the Palestinians and other oppressed people eat next to nothing. But have you noticed something? Their riches are not real riches? Why? Because they did not recognise Allah, they rejected Allah and made their wealth their god, whilst the poor have actually been given real wealth and that is firm faith and remembering Allah always.
These rich tyrants did not think who has given them their wealth and therefore abuse the wealth given to them by Allah SWT.
What is profound to me, is how Musa AS makes Dua for two things to destroy them:
1) to destroy their wealth with which they exert their tyrannical control; and
2) He asks Allah to harden their hearts - which is a punishment. So if we are thinking these tyrants are not being punished already? They are already!!! To have a hard heart causes a person to lack perception, increasing a person to increase in bad deeds and bad deeds without repentance (the ability and understanding to repent is a huge gift) for a just punishment.
So how can I learn from this?
Make the same Dua as Musa AS for the situation which is occurring not only in Gaza, but in Kashmir/india, in Yemen, in Sudan and so on.
I have been watching Sh Ammar Al Shkury’s Ramadan series on the Beautiful Names of Allah, he mentioned that the late Founder of Al Maghrib institute Muhammad Al Shareef Rahimullah said “Dua is action” and if you think about it, it really is, it is Allah who inspires you to make Dua and if He has inspired you to make Dua then be sure He will answer in the best way. We must do what we can and make Dua against tyrants.
And Allah knows best."
"Moses prayed, “Our Lord! You have granted Pharaoh and his chiefs luxuries and riches in this worldly life, ˹which they abused˺ to lead people astray from Your Way! Our Lord, destroy their riches and harden their hearts so that they will not believe until they see the painful punishment.” (88)" Yunus 10:88
