Anyway—back to the reason we’re here! Finding cool and unique outfits for my live shows has always been an adventure. I love things that I can’t find anywhere else. Things that are different and one-of-a-kind. Things that are inspired and thoughtfully crafted with love.
A few years ago I had an idea. I had always dabbled in fashion throughout the years, but this time I really thought I had something. After raiding my dad’s closet of all the neckties he didn’t need anymore (including a super rad Bugs Bunny tie), I went to work.
After pinning and draping and sewing and resewing for some time, I eventually got sidetracked with life and put my creation away.
Two years ago I got an opportunity to play a huge gig right in my hometown. I was STOKED! After calling my musicians, booking rehearsals, and putting the set list together I realized I had one big problem: I had no clue what to wear! Yes, it sounds very cliche, but it was so true!! I wanted to put my best foot forward and make an unforgettable impression, and I wanted every aspect of my show to accomplish that—even my wardrobe.
After mulling it over and tearing my closet apart several times, I remembered my necktie creation. It was a flowing, floor-length vest of sorts, and it was virtually finished. I dug around and eventually found it, and, after adding and tweaking a few things, I knew I had a winner.
The show went exceptionally well, and, to my surprise, my necktie outfit was a huge success! People kept wanting to take pictures of it and everything. For someone who is definitely not a seamstress or a fashion designer, I was truly flattered.
The following year I got called to play the same big hometown show again, and, with the success of the first year, I knew I had to amp it up both musically and visually. So back to work on another necktie outfit I went...
I have yet to put my larger creations up for sale, but in the process of designing I began making these cool necktie cuffs. I have ones for myself in almost every color, to go with every outfit. They’re easy to wear, comfortable, unique, and a statement piece sure to catch anyone’s eye.
Each cuff is completely hand sewn out of a previously worn and loved necktie.
