A native of Grand Rapids will see a film he wrote screened at the Austin Film Festival this week. It's also the last film made by actor and comedian Bob Saget before he died.
Matthew Dressel wrote "Daniel's Gotta Die" years ago , a dark comedy about a man who tries to reconnect with his siblings at a beach house, but they want to kill him for his inheritance. Dressel says Saget plays an executor of an estate and was involved in the creative process.
Others in the film, Mary Lynn Rajskub , a metro detroit native and Iggy Pop, a Michigan native. Dressel hopes the movie gets a theatrical release.

Message in a Bottle found 45 Years later From a Canton Woman

A Canton woman never dreamed that a message she put in a bottle in northern Michigan 45 years ago would be found. But it has, and Tinal Allerat remembers when she wrote the message in 1974 when she was staying with her grandparents in Traverse City. Her message asked whoever found it to return it to her. Allerat says a man found it a few years ago, but was only able to reach her recently and he plans to mail it to her until they do meet. She says it reminds her of her grandparents and the old days in Traverse City. She says her brother put a message in a bottle too , but his hasn't been found....yet.
