Lessons learned... hopefully!
1.) When booking things online... check if its USA or Canadian funds!
2.) Bring your own snacks for airline travel....
3.) Check car rental return options: we discovered in Nova Scotia we could return our car to another place free, but that's not what the booking site said! Always good to chat with the people on the ground, phone calls still work!

We saw the Bluenose II at Lunenburg... and in the Bay of Fundy (near Digby) fishing boats rest on the seabed until the tide comes up... way up!! You can see the tide line on the dock uprights...

What an amazing place Nova Scotia is!! From sun gold reflecting off the Bras d'or Lake, to the verdant greens of the valleys and forests, to the brazen blue of the endless tides...combine all that with great local hospitality and family/friends and you've got a perfect holiday!

Our Latest "Travel"
Last weekend, my guy of 39 years and I celebrated our anniversary with a trip to Spokane Wa. Had a lovely room at the Best Western, walked to dinner at the Steam Plant, a refurbished (who'd guess?) steam plant with very authentic decor and great casual dining. After the complimentary dessert (oh yum!) we walked back through Spokane Riverfront Park, taking time for a romantic waltz on the bridge serenaded by a saxophone player (raising money for college) before finally returning to our hotel to enjoy our complimentary bottle of wine on our hotel balcony... as my great nephew would say: This is THE life!!
Looking to plan a romantic get-a-way with your honey? PM me, I can help :)

Flying with your furry family members?... Here's an AC update...
Air Canada Cargo has become the first airline to receive a new global certification for the safe transport of live animals. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) awarded Air Canada Cargo with the Center of Excellence for Independent Validators for Live Animals Logistics (CEIV Live Animals) Certification following successful completion of the verification process in its Montreal facility. This certification reinforces that Air Canada Cargo is operating to the highest standards in the transport of live animals, be it exotic species or household pets.

We use an app called Campendium for finding RV parks etc. in the US. Highly recommend it... they also have you-tube videos. I just watched the one on camping the US west coast. It was great, they showed campgrounds from California up through Oregon and Washington... one of our favorite stretches. Just one tip on that route... go from the north to the south as all the sights are on the ocean side and if you travel it from south to north you don't see as much and are always making left hand turns across traffic to get to view points etc. :)

Flight tip: We fly alot out of US airports cause they are close and often the airlines have more times/price options. One thing we dicovered last winter is that our granddaughter (age 8) can't fly from Canada into USA without a passport; however, she can cross the border into usa driving with just a birth certificate and then board a plane in USA without a passport if going to a destination within the USA. (Fortunately, since the passport office put the wrong birthdate on her passport!!)

Not that I fly to Europe much (like once) but I saw on CTV if your flight is delayed more than 3 hours or cancelled to/from Europe you are eligible for a refund up to $900 Canadian. Apparently most people are not aware of this, and they don't "promote" it.
I might have to fly to Europe now!!
