The Campus Mission, Knoxville TN
The Campus Mission began in 2008. For five years we met weekly for lunches to talk about what God might be up to in our lives. I had broken my kicking leg.
It is a non-denominational ministry which provides spiritual friendship, direction and discipleship to college age men on their journey with Jesus Christ. Student Testimonies

When I think of my time at the University of Tennessee, one of the most important things that I come back to during reflection is the time I spent wit
Summer is a lean season but the work goes on and the Lord provides. Thank you to all of you supporting me! We seem to run about $800 short a month these days so please lift that up in prayer along with my time and conversations with the folks I get to be with.
If you’re out of school for the summer, you may have a job to keep you busy, but I encourage you to find a place to serve others. Try a different rhythm for these few weeks. I’m at Camp Bayoca several days a week. I entertain the kids and I get to spend time building relationships with the staff. After a school year of ministry, this is a great change of pace. Serve at a day camp, a summer camp, a KARM store, but look for a spot where the Spirit’s work in you gets to come out and bless others.
Pentecost, the gift of the Holy Spirit. This morning I was describing this gift in children’s church. I asked them to imagine a large block of stone, rough and shapeless. Then the artist takes the chisel and hammer and over time the stone takes shape until the image is clear. That’s what the Holy Spirit is at work doing in us all the time. He’s shaping us into a little Christ. Often it’s uncomfortable, because we have our own ideas of what we want to be, but He goes on with the work. Somewhere along the way I began to want to cooperate and participate in the work He’s up to, though sometimes I still resist the chisel. Yet still He goes on with His work, Thanks be to God.
Happy Pentecost!
Huge thanks be to God for all of those who have supported my work with young men for the past 15 years. This semester may be wrapped but I’ll still have a busy summer with guys from Jefferson City to Townsend, and here in Knoxville. My funding is ebbing low again so please pray for provision. The Campus Mission page has a “Shop Now” button that connects to PayPal giving.
Last conversation (while he’s a student) with a friend about to graduate from UT. It’s been 3 years of life, faith, and gyros at Holy Land Mkt. I’m proud of him but these are always bittersweet moments. Now I’ve got another reason to visit Texas.

Waiting on that next conversation. It’s already been a very rich morning, talking curiosity over judgement, humility over selfishness….Jesus and my agenda. Hope you’re having good conversations too.
This is what your Sovereign Lord says,
your God, who defends his people:
“See, I have taken out of your hand
the cup that made you stagger;
from that cup, the goblet of my wrath,
you will never drink again. Is 51:22
Today, on the cross, He drank the cup of God’s wine fury for us, so that we could drink the cup of mercy. Sit with that till Sunday.

Love that students from different backgrounds are exposed to confession each week at CN RUF
Great start to the day, enthusiastic conversation about movies with film major and friends that turned to the need for confession and grace. Friends I hope you have someone who can hear your dark night of the soul experience and give you grace, for without that, the temptation to sin management and self medication is great indeed.
Another powerful word at RUF tonight from Mark 7
Spent some hours at the cafe at CN today. Conversation ranged from great movies of the 60’s, the heroes’ journey in film, to the meaning behind ashes and fasting in Lent, baptism and relationship with God, then on to the evolution of the running shoe from 1979 to today. Joining the dance with the triune God undergirding it all.
Alumni breakfast with Will. 2016 and today at Longs Drugstore. Still talking about life and Jesus.
