Business Owner Spotlight: Pam and Tom Rich, owners of Paul Rich & Sons Home Furnishings + DESIGN

As Berkshire County natives, we share a deep connection to this region’s breathtaking beauty and rich cultural heritage. Working and living in Pittsfield is a privilege we cherish every day. Our connection to the landscape and community continues to inspire our work. We are grateful to be part of an area where nature, art, and design come together so seamlessly, and love being in “the heart of the Berkshires” in Downtown Pittsfield.

Paul Rich & Sons opened on October 6, 1983, as one small storefront, but as neighboring stores closed and space became available, the business underwent five expansions. With the purchase of the Farrell-Sweeney building, Paul Rich & Sons now occupies the entire block and offers off-street parking behind the store.

In 2008, a major renovation morphed the turn-of-the-century building into a magnificent 30,000-square-foot showroom space, three floors with a complete design center. As a full-service home furnishings and design store on the cutting edge of ever-changing home fashions, we provide our customers with a unique opportunity to see a large selection of many styles of furniture, rugs, lighting, decorative accessories, handcrafted pieces and thousands of fabrics and finishes, plus a comprehensive bedding selection housed on our lower-floor showroom, with many of our products sourced in the USA.

We have skilled designers on staff to assist customers in the store and offer in home complimentary design services as well.

The Berkshire Athenaeum, Pittsfield’s Public Library, in partnership with Downtown Pittsfield, Inc., and its member businesses, is observing National Library Card Sign-up Month during the month of September. The public is encouraged to sign up for or renew their free library card at the Athenaeum and enjoy special discounts and freebies exclusive to Berkshire Athenaeum library cardholders at participating Pittsfield businesses.

Patrons of the library may enter a raffle to win one of three $50 Downtown Pittsfield gift cards or a 1-year Family Membership to The Friends of the Berkshire Athenaeum. Prizes are provided by the Friends of the Berkshire Athenaeum. A brochure listing the discounts offered will be available at Athenaeum service desks, or online at www.downtownpittsfield.com. It’s easy to take advantage of the discounts, simply show your Berkshire Athenaeum library card, in person, at the time of purchase.
