After hours of powerful and moving public comments from our beautiful, diverse, and heart-centered community, the Oakland City council voted to UNANIMOUSLY passing a resolution ~ unamended ~ demanding in 🇵🇸 thank you so much for all who turned out on the right side of history! We still got more work to do, but we love you Oakland / Huichin, and love life!

Tonight, Oakland City passed a historic resolution, calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. This resolution will be transmitted to California legislators and Congressional Reps. Just as our movement is fighting for ceasefire, we will grow and fight for an end to US Aid to Israel, fight for Palestinian prisoners, and fight for a Free Palestine

“Today we gather with family and friends to acknowledge our blessings and we remember our relatives that are currently being oppressed on these stolen lands and around the globe. Tomorrow Friday Nov 24, we invite you to join us for a prayer walk at our oldest Sacred site along the waters of Strawberry creek, the West Berkeley Shellmound, and we will walk to the Emeryville Shellmound, (the largest of our Shellmounds). We join our prayers in solidarity with our relatives in Palestine, Kashmir, West Papua, Hawaii and all other occupied lands. This is a family friendly event, bring signs, water bottles and prayers. Please carpool as parking may be tight, the organizers have people that will shuttle drivers back to the beginning after the program is complete.”

“There are many colonial mythologies about Indigenous Peoples + the founding of the US and Canada. Thanksgiving is one of them, however, in the words of Wamsutta Frank James, Wampanoag, “the Pilgrims had hardly explored the shores of Cape Cod four days before they had robbed the graves of my ancestors, and stolen their corn, wheat, and beans.” The truth is that real history has been whitewashed + that Thanksgiving perpetuates white supremacy + romanticized notions about Indigenous Peoples. To celebrate the current Thanksgiving mythology is to celebrate the theft of land through ethnic cleansing + enslavement. It is a lie that overlooks the genocide of Native American Indigenous Peoples + the enslavement of African Indigenous Peoples in order for settler-vigilantes + colonial militias to steal land and labor--the legacy of which is still felt today”.

This is no different to what we are experiencing today with Isr@el’s horrific colonial agenda to ethnically cleanse Palestin€ by committing numerous war crimes. This is what genocide looks like. And those of us who have experienced first hand the violent impacts of colonization need to rise up and demand a + to of Palestine. Over 10,000 people have been killed, a majority of whom are innocent civilian women + children.

We encourage the Pham world wide to do your part to help 🍉 Resistance is summoned in many different ways. Educate yourselves critically, support a protest, boycott + divest corporations funding this genocide, contact your local + national governments to demand a and allow humanitarian aid to Palestine. You can also relate + create from a place of love + solidarity with the intention that our offerings will bring healing + justice Palestine + to all colonized people.

HAPPENING NOW: A US militarily vessel destined to take military equipment to Israel is currently at the Port of Oakland. Communities are currently protesting with a strong picket line to protest, and we call on everyone to come out to the port to say enough is enough. No more US weapons to Israel for genocide!

Witnessing + supporting her in this process really showed me the power of love, prayer, education, straregy and hope. Love you Gema, you are an wonderful daughter and I’m so glad we we’re able to organize and get your mama + her church group back home to the safety of their loved ones 🥹 So proud of you and grateful for all we learned + experienced along the way…I think it really helped us to become better humans 🫶🏽

I was debating with myself on whether I should post this, but given what's happening in Gaza and my mom's recent experience of being stuck in Israel, I believe that it's important to contribute to this conversation in a meaningful and resourceful way. So, while I'm sharing my story and thoughts, I'm also providing a list of organizations to support, along with books, movies, and more to help us gain a better understanding of what's happening in Palestine and Israel.

“[Yesterday], the landlord of a Palestinian Muslim family in Chicago broke into the family’s apartment & attacked them with a knife, seriously injuring the mother and killing her 6-year-old son, Wadea Al-Fayoume.

According to text messages sent to the father of the boy by the mother from the hospital, the landlord who had been angry with what he was seeing in the news knocked on their door & when she opened, he tried to choke her and proceeded to attack her with a knife, yelling "you Muslims must die!" When she ran into the bathroom to call 911, she came out to find that he had stabbed her 6-year-old son to death. The boy was stabbed 26 times. “It all happened in seconds," the mother texted.

The PYM holds the media, politicians & community institutions responsible for the violent wave of Islamophobic rhetoric & anti-Palestinian racism currently being spread across media outlets, on social media platforms & in the halls of Congress. At a time when our communities are under unprecedented assault by US politicians & corporations — who continue to level baseless accusations of anti-Semitism at us & our movement for liberation — a 6 year old child in our community is now dead, and his mother seriously injured, as a direct result of Zionist violence & incitement.

Statements issued by public officials & reporting by the media have created an atmosphere in which members of our community are doubly vulnerable to attacks. In the past week, the media has reverted to the explicit and unapologetic anti-Arab racism & Islamophobia from the years after 9/11, where irresponsible and biased reporting directly contributed to the killing and injuring of our communities across North America.

Media, politicians, and community institutions can no longer go unchecked. We demand an end to the race-baiting coverage, the propagation of anti-Arab & Islamophobic myths, and the collective silence and indifference of community institutions. The lives of our youth — in our schools & in our streets — depend on it.

Rest in power, Wadea al-Fayoume. From Chicago to Palestine, the struggle for justice continues”.

Luanda Wesley and Holly Calica, Healers-In-Residence at the Freedom Community Clinic (FCC)’, are providing free “Caring for Each Other: Bodywork [Ceremonies] for Ourselves and Families.”

Experience healing modalities that can easily be shared at home using simple tools from Indigenous traditional ways of being and living. Come learn traditions practiced in Aotearoa (New Zealand) in October and useful Acupressure points in November & December. Sessions will incorporate a variety of ceremonial songs, prayers or meditations, breathwork, and journal reflections. Learn about FCC’S Herbal Apothecary and suggestions for transitioning into fall.

Teao ~ I’m so grateful for you beyond words but I’ll try here. Thank you for the inspiration to become better + wiser versions of ourselves. Thank you for taking the time to cultivate our love and the foundation of all we share together. Thank you for being down to keep doing the work together to grow, to learn, and evolve so that we can continue to meet each other down the middle path.
