Immunity building Ayurvedic Kadha Tea 12/07/2020

All life’s best practices are for lifelong. Not a destination but a journey, Immunity falls right there in the cupboard of your good practices.
I wish it could have come in the form a pill, an elixir, unfortunately, which we could have pooed and rejoiced for acquiring the body defense system. Alas! It sounds god only in fables and God’s story. But perhaps that is too easy. Hence, we all must take a step a day and sow the seed of mindful acts of enhancing immunity without condition or qualification.
The innate immune system is nurtured by good practices and Dinacharya (daily regime), which in turn positively influence the adaptive immune system also.
According to Ayurveda, strong immunity is a product of good digestion, strong Agni (the metabolic fire), quality liver functioning, and a balanced endocrine system1 (which includes appropriately balanced hormones). Immunity is also very much connected to a mysterious substance called Ojas, the subtle essence of Kapha. Diet and lifestyle play a very important role in developing Vyadhi Kshamathwa or the concept of resistance to illness development. One step at a time, but consistently, and you yourself will witness the self-transformation.
So, the recipe which I am sharing today is called “Kaadha” which is a concoction of herbs and spices boiled together in water for a longer duration to extract the benefits.
This simple preparation should ideally be taken warm twice or thrice in a day to boost immunity.

We are delighted to launch our organic vegetable endeavor in Ranchi. The responses were overwhelming, and so is our responsibility to provide organic and fresh vegetables to your doorstep. There were some learnings too, and we are grateful for every feedback provided by you. Rest assured we will work hard on each of the feedback received.
Winter is knocking our doors. There is an abundance of vegetables this season. You can check out the recipes section to get started on some delicacies and share your photos or experiences with preparing our recipes in your home.
Right now the focus is to reach as many of you as possible in a day. Afterall the benefit of consuming organic vegetables is to buy almost everyday like the old days. Once it enters the refrigerator, the vegetables start to lose nutrition and freshness.
While keeping our commitment to natural packing, we were inspired by the local knowledge of packing the vegetables in leaves. You can compost the same.

Punjabi Kadhi- when you miss it , make it 30/03/2019

Indian sub contienent is the veritable feast of food for vegetarians. Most of the major ethnicities of India have theit own recipe of Kadhi, essentially a mix of besan (chickpea flour in west) and dahi (natural yogurt). The sourness of the yogurt is the unique characteristic of almost all the kadhis. Punjabi kadhi is little thicker, though without jaggery, and pakora (fritters) of onion or potatoes or both are dipped in the sauce. One of the most imprtant aspect is the tempering of spices and red chili which makes the mouth water at the mere sight. It is generally served with boiled rice and pickle.

I am also learning to appreciate the sheer diversity of cuisine of various states of India, when I miss it, I try making it in Costa Rica, though sometimes with less success, but the intention holds me in good stead.

This post is dedicated to Ms. Jhumki Gupta who requested this recipe. I hope you like making this delectable Kadhi.
