Good afternoon from your favorite sour dough slinger!

This weekend I am starting up again to get orders finished that I already have. I am hopeful to get these taken care of in the next three weeks and done in the beginning on June! IF you ordered and haven't gotten yours yet be on the look out for a message from me!

To say I am thankful is such an understatement , it's so much more than that!

Stayed up until 2 this morning finishing some orders. I'm so proud how they turned out!

First time putting SIX boules in the fridge. Went from just one, to two, to four , now this. My goal is to fit 8 of those babies in there

I plan to bake them tonight so they can be delivered tomorrow.

Let me tell you a little about why I chose the name BirdnDuck.

Everyone I know, knows that we call Declan Duck or Duckie, so where did Bird come from? Well, I used to call Lorelai Birdie. When she was born she had these long thin legs, as I would call them , bird legs. I would snuggle in her ear while holding her calling her Birdie and it just kind of stuck. Its a nickname not used often, as " Lo" or " Lolo" became a thing, but with my family we call her Bird, my nephew is Goose, and Declan is Duck.

A little back story:
I have always loved baking , I think thats why I love the fall and winter time so much is because that was when I was more apt to bake ( ya know, warm cozy feelings ) I recently came upon sour dough while scrolling through baking ideas. I wanted a challenge, something different than my normal cookies. A few months ago I finally dove into it, watching videos, reading , talking to fellow sour dough bakers, watching more videos. Its become more and more of a joy for me to bake and experiment with it. There have been many fails, but I think there have been just as many triumphs and the reward after by enjoying each boule with my family has made me want to share what I bake even more. One day while talking to Dan on how I can share what I love to do but not really charging for it just yet as a legit income for our family since I am still new at this it came to me....

Lets get a little more in depth-
Dan has been in our lives for almost 6 years, and Ill tell you, I've never seen anyone treat someone who wasnt their biological child as their own like Dan does with Lo. Dan was there for not just me, but for Lo since day one. He has been there for several lost teeth, bedtime stories, learning to ride her bike, trying new food, every single game she had, every single concert, every single cheer, her first Disney trip, her first rock show, getting her ears pierced her first daddy daughter date, there for all the tears, all of the laughter, I could do on and on and on. Dan has been the absolute best dad, father, since the day met. I will never forget the first time Lorelai called him Dad, and it was her choice. If anyone asks, Dan immediately says Lo is his daughter, there has NEVER been the word " step " in front of that word.

We thought since its been years since her bio dad has seen her that after we got married it would be a really easy process with the adoption. Nope, wrong-o! We have to go through the entire process and before we can even begin we have to pay $3000.( Oh and did I mention we will have to hire a PI because we dont know where he is )We have been trying to save towards this since our conversation with the attorney a few months ago but with all of the issues with the house, me working less, and going to school its been very difficult and disheartening.

This is why BirdnDuck Sourdough came to life. Eventually I will continue this as a legit side gig but for now every single penny "donated" to this goes into a fund for the adoption.

My way of giving back is to give to you what I love to do, baking with all of the love I have for this family into every boule I make

Hi! So I now have 70 orders in total. Everyone that I 'reacted' to or talked to either on messenger or my Facebook post I have yours documents and will be working on those

I also have compiled all the orders. 42 orders! I started My first few and already ran out of flour 🤣 but no worries, I love this! Please bare with me as the process for the loafs take two days. Also if I don't like the way a loaf looks I will toss it and start all over 🫠 but that's because I'm picky and you deserve a beautiful loaf!

Also- I won't cut the loaf before giving to you- I check the internal temp to make sure it's baked on the inside. When you get a loaf it may not have that crispy outside as it does when it first comes out so here is a great tip

▪︎ preheat oven to 300, place loaf in for 5-10 min. It should get that wonderful crisp outside
▪︎ also if you slice a new piece the following day its phenomenal in the toaster and slather any topping you want!

Thank you all so much for supporting me! We have been wanting to move forward with the adoption for a while but weren't able to until we were married. Now that we are and we spoke with the attorney we have to go through the entire process! We have been trying to save up but since we have had so many issues with ALL of our appliances and then me in school full time/ cutting hours at work it's made it very hard to save up the money.
