Edison Chapel meet at Urban Alliance at 6 pm on Sunday evenings.
We are serious about how and why we serve and love the poor of Kalamazoo. This is what we believe Church is all about.
Tonight’s topic:
Pigs, Pearls, and … You’re Not Crazy.
Reminder there is no Chapel service tonight.
See you next week!
This Sunday 7/21, join us for a snack potluck at 6pm at Therkildsen's house instead of normal service (message us for the address).
And next Sunday 7/28, there is no Chapel service.
We can't wait to see what snacks you bring to share! 🍉🥨🍿🫐🍟🥒🥟🧁
On loving our neighbors. You don’t have to live in the neighborhood to be a “neighbor” to it. That is the whole point of Jesus using the word neighbor.
Let’s not let technicalities get in the way of what it means to be a Christian.
We always need partners. If you want to be a partner with us, you can do that here: edisonchapel.com/give
Thank you all for praying Sunday night for the little boy who was hit by a car. We've received word that he is out of the hospital and back home now. ❤️
He is banged up and has a small brain bleed that the doctors are feeling positive about.
We are looking for a handful of people who can help stock up on some food for him and the people taking care of him. Some pre-cooked meals would be great but also things that can easily be prepared at the house - fruit, frozen chicken nuggets, cereal, crackers and cheese, etc.
Please get in touch with us if you're interested in helping provide that 🙏🏼
Jesus moves us forward.
If you've ever wondered what Edison Chapel is about, this sermon might help. Do we love justice? Yes. Do many churches wonder if we are a church or a community development organization? Yes. Do we support and lift up all the people churches usually shame and condemn? Yes. Are we a church? Yes. Do we reject a belief-centric faith and follow Jesus into places that make a lot of church(y) thinking feel threatened? Yes. We do that, too. And here is why ...
Edison Chapel Vision This is a sermon by Rod Tucker explaining the vision of Edison Chapel in Orthodoxy and Orthopraxis.
Fully honest: we're running out of money.
Will you consider becoming a financial partner and helping us to continue the work we so love doing in our neighborhood?

Book study alert!
You're invited to join us in reading This Too Shall Last: Finding Grace when Suffering Lingers, about one chapter each week for 10-12 weeks.
"This book is not a before and after story. Our culture treats suffering like a problem to fix, a blight to hide...When your prayers for healing haven't been answered, the fog of depression isn't lifting, your marriage is ending in divorce, or grief won't go away, it's easy to feel you've failed God or, worse; he's failed you. If God loves us, why does he allow us to hurt?
Through personal story and insights from neuroscience and theology, therapist and writer KJ Ramsey invites us to let our tears become lenses of the wonder that before God ever rescues us, he stands in solidarity with us. We are all mid-story in circumstances we did not choose, wondering when our hard things will end and where grace will come if they don't. Together, we can encounter grace in the middle, where living with suffering that lingers can mean receiving God's presence that lasts.
What if the church treated suffering like a story to tell rather than a secret to keep until it passes?"
Thursday nights at the Tucker house, 7:30-9pm starting April 25 (the first week, we'll discuss the Foreword and Invitation). Please let us know if you'd like to be a part of the group so we can get a copy of the book for you.
We told this to our text list, but in case you missed it:
