In the beginning... 11/08/2023

It was such an incredible honor working with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra on the premiere of my new piece! Check it out below.

If you could hear the genesis of the earth, what would it sound like? Through a biblical lens of creation, "In the beginning…" explores this phenomenon, traversing through darkness and chaos, light and wonder, and the formation of human life. A musical reimagining of the inception of the universe, this piece finds wonder, peace, excitement, and love, reveling in the fascination and mystery of the beautiful world humanity has the pleasure of existing in.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.” Genesis 1:1-3 (NIV).

Performed live by the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra as part of the Sofia Symphonic Summit.
Conducted by Chenzhejun "Jackie" Hu.

If one could hear a place of safety and refuge, what would it sound like? "SANCTUARY" explores the concept of reaching such a place of peace and solace. Through constant flowing movement and repetitive motifs, this piece attempts to create a sonic world where one can find stability, familiarity, and respite from the everyday struggles of life, inviting the listener into a musical sanctuary.

Performed live in Vienna, Austria by Trio Immersio.

Words can't really describe how incredibly grateful I am to have had the experience of my music being premiered in Vienna, Austria of all places. The friends I made, deep discussions about the craft that were had, and the adventures around the city that were shared I will forever hold as such special memories.

A huge thank you to Trio Immersio for performing "SANCTUARY" so beautifully and to Iceberg New Music - Composer Collective for the opportunity of a lifetime!

I am so excited to be traveling to Dallas and working with the Julius Quartet again on my piece "Let the Light In", which will be performed alongside a stellar program of other composers (including Steve Reich, eep!) at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza! There will even be a little snippet airing on the WRR Classical Radio Station (linked below) from May 25th-June 3rd. If you're in the area, grab tickets! Honestly still can't believe that this is my life. What a dream!
