My theme was habitable and potentially habitable planets, and I chose Terra, Arion, and Gliese. If you look close you can even find my picture of the April 8th Totality on Terra.

I found the perfect hanging frame for the artwork as well. 🥰

Today’s window view… Tuesdays are my busiest day of the week. This guy is wondering why I can’t come and play.

As a business owner, I’m thinking I need to reinstate recess for adults. Pup fun and play at least two times a day.

Mr Bear has one more day of cone wearing, and it was the longest 2 weeks imaginable!

He may be 98 lbs, but at ~18 months, he’s still a puppy at heart.

He loves to use his cone to carry treats and toys. 🧸 I suspect he’ll be MUCH happier once it’s off though.

Today is National Have a Bagel Day!

I LOVE everything bagels but I guess everyone else in Texas does too, as our store is always out.

Thankfully I discovered they have Everything Bagel seasoning in the spice aisle.

So I now get plain bagels and sprinkle the seasoning on my cream cheese. 🥯 💕

I caught myself saying I’m not a designer recently, because I don’t draw everything by hand, and I don't paint well. My background is in photography I was frustrated that what I did create wasn’t being produced with textures and embellishments the way I envisioned it, and yet they couldn’t explain what they wanted, even though I was using the correct file formats and layers.

It bothered me that I said it, because I felt I was “selling myself short”. I love capturing pictures and creating designs with art and unique typography, I can lay out magazines and newsletters, and write content and creative catch phrases. Yet I was getting stuck and couldn’t get my creative pieces printed.

I take the time to edit colors so they coordinate, select fonts that work for the medium, I often obsess over the layout and content printing proofs and adjusting it for the final product before sending it to the printer.

I research the market to see what people are interested in and what’s missing, I study color theory and use the rule of thirds and my eye for photography whenever possible.

By the time the project is ready for production I know my intended customers so well I can picture them in my head. All so I can create products I know they’ll like.

Which made me realize I am a designer with a background in product marketing. I just may not be a person who draws everything themselves or can produce the final piece by printing it at home. Which is completely okay by me.

Since working with multiple print fulfillment companies, I have learned how to do die-lines by hand, create textures and foil layers, and more. I found that most videos on YouTube that explain how to do these key skills are created for digital outputs not for print, and what I needed to do to get my photos printed is completely different than other print products. And those non-photography printers HATE image files. 😂

This shirt was just for fun. Because I love Santa and he does seem to know everything…and because sometimes in the world of design and print, a cocktail is almost a prerequisite.

I decorated our patio with a fall theme yesterday even though with the humidity it was over 100 degrees out.

Last night a huge thunderstorm rolled through, and I woke up to much cooler more comfortable weather. (and a few new downed limbs to add to our woodpile!)

I've opened up my calendar to take on a few more small business clients this quarter. (content creation, social media, and/or graphics)

When I was young, my neighbors had a horse farm, and I went there every chance I could get! So much so the owner called me “pest”.

One year I saved up my money to buy a horse, and they said I could choose from their foal crop.

I chose a day old palomino and named her Jewel.

So when I was creating horse air fresheners I had to alter one to honor my companion of 32 years. 💕

I think of her daily, and thought this would be a great way to remember our adventures together.
