The 2021 Sydney Covid lockdown limits exercise to 10km radius from home, so regular cyclists need to be creative in finding rides that are not boring. If the North Sydney Harbour foreshores is within your radial reach, you can find some of the most scenic rides in the country. This particular ride is short on kilometres but it includes lots of hilly but quiet streets so you can still get a good workout....

One of the accepted excuses for leaving a residence during a Covid Lockdown is exercise, yet Sydney today was empty of bicycles and people. It is a wonderful experience to cruise around the Sydney Harbour foreshores and enjoy some of the most magnificent scenery you'll find anywhere in the world. If you have not tried it, do it while the city is empty....

Covid Lockdown City Ride Riding Sydney Harbour Bridge to Anzac Bridge in a Covid Lockdown
If your regular routes are feeling stale its amazing how fresh they will seem if you imagine showing them to someone else for the very first time. I do this occasionally on my regular rides around Sydney's Northern Beaches and it helps me see familiar things through fresh eyes. On this occasion, my imaginary tourist friend and I set out from Manly Wharf as it is a popular and accessible destination by ferry....

If you were asked to name the most iconic cycleway in Sydney, what would you choose? If we added criteria such as avoiding roads entirely, having endlessly varied and interesting scenery, being adjustable in length and able to start at a variety of places, there can only be one answer. Its the Homebush Bay to Parramatta cycleway. This version of the ride started in the carpark near Kissing Point Wharf, then crossed the Parramatta River over the Concord Bridge to the Rhodes Foreshore Park....

Today’s electric-assisted bicycles offer endless opportunities to safely enjoy cycling. This article is for senior cyclists and those with joint/mobility issues that discourage them from riding a bike. It shares my personal experience and does not offer health-related advice. There is an abundance of clinical research that demonstrates the positive impact that cycling has on joint conditions. If this affects you, the following may help you identify a suitable ebike as well as suggest a couple of safe cycling routes. ...

For most of us, Cronulla is a ride turning-point or a destination with lovely cafes and bakeries. However, it’s also a fascinating area for exploring on two-wheels with some of the most stunning scenery around Sydney. With no particular route in mind, I parked my car on the northern end of Captain Cook’s Bridge and headed along the usual Taren Point cycle path, turning east at Sharks Park....

The Spit/Mosman/Middle Head area makes for a spectacular and hilly ride, but for electric assisted bikes thats not a problem. A mid-morning mid-week ride will see very little traffic, except for Balmoral beach. This particular ride started at the Spit, then dropped by Chinaman's Beach before climbing up to Mosman then descending to Balmoral. From Balmoral, its a few steep hills to Georges Heights and Middle Head, with views out to Manly and Watsons Bay....
