I felt this 💗 …and really appreciated the reminder. I’ve been feeling the pressure (self-imposed🤯) lately to achieve business milestones and goals quicker, which lets me know that I’ve been focusing more on a sense of lack of time and opportunities to get things done, rather than everything being in the perfect time and limitless opportunities! Emotions are such amazing guidance, especially when they’re uncomfortable! So, I’m s’witching my thinking, or at least reframing my perspective, when I realise I’m having a thought that creates stress and restriction into one that remembers the wisdom and benevolence that IS💗⭐️ If you’ve read this far then I guess this is a timely reminder for you too… xx

Nutrition is one of the most powerful health intervention tools, and yet one of the most underused. This needs to change, and I’m so pleased to be part of Venner Nutrition making this happen, and special thanks to Good Food Leicestershire 🙏🏻💚🥦

Venner Nutrition, a social enterprise that creates healthy food boxes and recipes, is working with Good Food Leicestershire and Leicestershire County Council to support 150 new and expecting county mums.
Here’s a Q and A with Venner nutritionist Laura Holland.
Q. What will you find in a Venner box?
Lots of fresh, tasty fruits, veggies and plant-based ingredients to make healthy family meals easy and affordable. We even include olive oil and herbs and spices, so it’s all you need for your weekday meals in a box, plus breakfast for the kids and a few fun snack recipes. There’s also a recipe book, a weekly meal planner, nutrition info and an access code to Venner’s Kitchen, where you can watch cooking videos and find more recipe inspiration.
Q. What approach did you take when it came to creating the box?
Nutrition is at the heart of everything we do, since we know a good diet is essential for health and wellbeing, and it’s especially true for children. The ingredients and recipes are selected to make a nutritious diet easy for everyone. Our meals also need to be tasty, easy to make and affordable to replicate, so if it doesn’t taste good it doesn’t make the box!
Q. Which Venner recipes are most popular and why?
Lentil Bolognese always gets a big thumbs up, along with our sweet potato and kale curry. People love them because their kids tend to enjoy these recipes too, and they’re so easy to make. They’re also rich in flavour, leaving you feeling very satisfied.
Q. If you could remove one item from the average shopping basket/trolley, what would it be and why?
Removing branded ready meals and food products would make a huge difference to budget and health. Cooking from scratch is cheaper and way more nutritious: you just have to know how to use these ingredients. Cooking at home and eating together is about more than food and nutrition, it supports mental health and provides quality time; a crucial part of overall health.
Q. If people are looking to optimise nutrition, what should they do?
An optimised diet is different for each individual, so it’s important they listen to their body and find foods that help them feel energised and strong. Having said that, variety is key if you want diverse nutrients. This is often a challenge, but spending a little time broadening variety, especially with colourful fruits and veggies, is an easy and powerful way to cover all bases.
Q. What do people often get wrong when it comes to nutrition?
A. People often think it’s complicated and expensive. Neither are true. We’d all benefit from going back to basics, especially if we have a little know-how and simple cooking skills, which is what you find in Venner’s Kitchen. Also, the simpler it is, the more sustainable it is, and this is the real magic when it comes to health and wellbeing. So, the basics: get your 5-7 portions of fruit and veg each day, focus on foods from nature rather than food products, drink plenty of water, embrace variety and enjoy the food you eat!
