It’s been barely a year since we started out on our Handloom journey, designing our own handwoven garments and getting them woven by skilled local weavers in an utmost traditional manner. More than the innate satisfaction of watching beautiful works of art being created by tireless human hands in the loom, this has also been a totally personal learning experience for the whole team in general. The fact that we could also empower a whole weaving village in Palakkad to a certain extent, has added to our satisfaction and we feel truly blessed. At this juncture, we are truly proud of the fact that before the year has run through, we have been able to achieve the feat of installing our own loom within our premises. At a time when the handloom industry is undergoing a revival and there is a movement from the part of the Govt to encourage more people to wear handwoven garments, we are definitely proud of the fact that we have taken a concrete step to support the art of traditional hand weaving which requires drastic life support for its survival. Today its just one loom that we own, but in the coming months, I am positive that there are going to be more weavers and looms for Sankalp and its our dream that we carve out our own space and make a name in this beautiful world of Indian Handlooms!
