🌟 Today's Yoga Session: Root Chakra Focus 🌟
We had an amazing yoga session today dedicated to balancing and energizing our Root Chakra (Muladhara). It was a grounding and stabilizing experience that left everyone feeling centered and secure.
🌱 Highlights:
• We worked on poses like Mountain Pose, Warrior, Triangle and Malasand to establish a strong connection with the earth.
• We focused on pelvic breathing to deepen our connection to the root chakra and enhance our grounding. This breathing technique helps to stabilize the pelvis, improve core strength, and create a sense of safety and stability.
• We concluded with a grounding meditation, visualizing a red light at the base of our spines, helping us feel anchored and secure.
✨ Why Focus on the Root Chakra? The Root Chakra is all about stability, security, and our basic needs. By balancing this chakra, we cultivate a sense of safety and grounding, essential for our overall well-being.
Thank you to everyone who joined today’s session and embraced the grounding energy. If you couldn’t make it, stay tuned for more chakra-focused classes coming soon!
🧘‍♀️ Next Saturday: We will explore the Sacral Chakra, diving into its significance and how to balance it through yoga, breathing, and meditation.

Embracing the Yamas: A Journey of Self-Discipline and Harmony

"अहिंसासत्यास्तेय ब्रह्मचर्यापरिग्रहाः यमाः"

In Sanskrit, "Yamas" means restraint, self-control, or self-discipline. Upon hearing words like control and discipline, we often envision a strict set of guidelines with lists of do’s and don’ts. Consequently, the Yamas can be perceived in either a negative or positive light. However, these principles actually guide us toward developing healthy relationships with ourselves and the world around us.

By keeping an open mind and studying the Yamas, you'll discover that they embody simple common sense and pure wisdom. These principles are universally applicable, at any time and in any place. Once we understand this, we can find personal ways to integrate them into our daily lives.

Be mindful that initially, you may experience internal resistance. It’s natural to seek reasons not to fully embrace or practice the Yamas. Remember, practicing the Yamas is a gradual process requiring a step-by-step approach. Practice them to the extent that is possible for you at this moment. Every small step towards applying the Yamas creates the opportunity to see yourself and the world around you in a new light and through a different lens.

In this five-day workshop, we will explore ways to apply the Yamas to our lives both on and off the mat. Together, we'll embark on a journey of self-discovery and transformation, learning how to incorporate these timeless principles into our everyday actions and thoughts. I am excited that you are joining me as we delve into the wisdom of the Yamas and discover a path to greater harmony and well-being.

By integrating the body, mind, spirit, and soul, yoga offers a holistic approach to health and well-being, bringing peace to our busy lives. On this special day, we honor its profound power to transform.

The Eight Limbs of Yoga: A Path to Holistic Well-Being 🧘‍♀️🧘

“यमनियमासनप्राणायामप्रत्याहारधारणाध्यानसमाधयोऽष्टावङ्गानि ॥ २.२९॥“
"Yama-niyama-asana-pranayama-pratyahara-dharana-dhyana-samadhayo’ṣṭavangani."

The Eight Limbs of Yoga are outlined by Maharshi Patanjali in the second chapter of Yog Sutra, the Sadhana Pada in sutra 29. They guide us towards a balanced and fulfilling life, integrating ethical living, personal discipline, physical postures, breath control, sensory withdrawal, concentration, meditation, and ultimate union.

Happy International Women's Day! Here's to celebrating the strength, resilience, and achievements of women everywhere.
Empower women, empower humanity. Let's invest in women to create inclusive societies for all. Share if you believe in this vision!

Photos from Ihati Wellness's post 07/03/2024

Recently had an opportunity to conduct a Restorative Yoga and Yog Nidra session for a local project called WiBE hosted by the Multicultural Association of Community Empowerment Inc. (MACE)

The session was intimate and cozy, catering to a small group of women who thoroughly enjoyed it. However, participants also noted their limited familiarity with this style of practice and its associated benefits.

So here is an overview of Restorative Yoga practice. Creating another post on Yog Nidra to avoid information overload 😁.

Restorative yoga is a gentle and therapeutic style of yoga that focuses on deep relaxation and rejuvenation. In restorative yoga, practitioners use props such as blankets, bolsters, pillows, and blocks to support the body in various poses. The intention is to create a comfortable and nurturing environment that encourages the body to release tension and stress, while promoting a state of deep relaxation and inner calm.

Here are some key benefits of practicing restorative yoga:

Stress Reduction : Restorative yoga activates the parasympathetic nervous system, also known as the "rest and digest" response, which helps counteract the effects of stress on the body. The slow, gentle movements and supported poses promote relaxation and calm the mind.🧘‍♀️

Enhanced Relaxation: The supportive props used in restorative yoga help to alleviate physical strain and discomfort, allowing practitioners to fully relax into each pose. This deep relaxation can help reduce anxiety, promote better sleep, and improve overall well-being.🧎‍♀️

Mind-Body Connection: Restorative yoga encourages practitioners to focus on their breath and cultivate mindfulness. By bringing attention to the present moment and tuning into sensations within the body, practitioners can deepen their mind-body connection and foster a greater sense of awareness.🤗

Stress Relief: Restorative yoga can be particularly beneficial for individuals experiencing high levels of stress, anxiety, or fatigue. The practice offers a quiet, meditative space to rest and recharge, helping to replenish energy levels and restore balance to the body and mind.🥳

Supports Healing: Restorative yoga is often used as a therapeutic practice to support recovery from illness, injury, or chronic pain. The gentle nature of the practice and the use of supportive props make it accessible to individuals of all ages and abilities. .👍

Overall, restorative yoga offers a nurturing and supportive environment for practitioners to relax, rejuvenate, and restore balance to their bodies and minds. Whether you're new to yoga or an experienced practitioner, incorporating restorative yoga into your routine can be a valuable tool for promoting overall health and well-being.

Thank you Multicultural Association of Community Empowerment Inc. and Deepti Alurkkar JP for this opportunity.
