Dear Knights and Dames,
Dame Courtney and I wish you and your families a very happy Thanksgiving!
On Saturday December 2nd, we would ordinarily resume our First Saturday devotion at the Cathedral after the investiture. This year, however, we have a special opportunity to become more knowledgeable about the situation facing Christians in the near east.

Anticipating greater than usual interest, we will be having Mass at St. Hedwig's Church, 147 Walnut St, Manchester, NH 03104
Confession, starting at 7:15AM
Mass- 8AM
St. Hedwig's Church,

We have received word yesterday, of the passing of Knights of Columbus, State Life Director, Ron DiStasio.
Ron was and will remain an icon and an ever driving force in the hearts and minds of not only his Brother Knights of Columbus, but in the lives of all of those who fought for the right to life within the state of New Hampshire, along side him. With the lore of his successes and leadership, whose message reached our Nations Capital, at times, he was truly a man whose impact will be remembered for years to come and whose loss will be felt for a lifetime.
Ron not only served as State Life Director, however in his time within the Knights of Columbus, served in multiple Council, Assembly, District and statewide level appointments, that showcased his leadership and management abilities, led by his heart of gold.
He will truly be missed.
Further announcements will soon be made. His wife Mary Ann has expressed her profound gratitude for the love and support they’ve received from his brother Knights during this difficult time.
Further information on the need for a 4th Degree presence at Calling Hours and funeral, will be forthcoming.

Worthy Sir Knights and Brothers all,
Have you ever thought ... "Who will fill their shoes", when you or someone else can't give to your Assembly what you used to? Who will step up to run the business of the Assembly and lead the few programming initiatives that you have incorporated within the Veteran Homes, the cemeteries and funeral homes? Who will initiate the organization of participation in local parades?
These are all important questions you want to ask yourselves.
We only plan two 4th Degrees a year. Although, we have been fortunate enough to be able to hold two additional Exemplifications, to assist in bringing in the new members we need to fulfill our Patriotic outreach. And while I have planned two additional Exemplifications in February and June, our November 18th 4th Degree being held in Manchester, will be our last centrally located Degree until well into the new year.
Can you wait that long?
If there are any questions, or if you are in need of any support, please feel free to let Secretary Ed McCann or I know.

A great opportunity to support vocations within Concord Council #112
Bring your appetites and donations. For the next generation of Father Rays.
Our wives and guests participated in a ladies program, while our Brother Knights held our Fall Quarterly Meeting. The ladies created shawls and lap blankets, new sew, to donate to areas of need in the community.
The State Council kicked off our Fall Qurterly Meeting in Belmont, NH, today, addressing the needs of the Council, through individual “breakout sessions” geared toward growing membership on all levels, as well as increasing programming.
State Secretary for the Knights of Columbus, New Hampshire State Council, Mark Messier, hands out State Council Awards, while State Deputy, Tim Kingsley announces the lucky recipients, at todays Fall Quarterly Meeting.
Men at Work - Part 2. After several rain delays, the Concord Council 112 crew led by brother Dan St. Hilaire, was finally able to stain the new Creche on October 15th.
The new Creche/Nativity was built almost exclusively by brother Bob Nadeau (R.I.P.), and he was missed that day.
For over 50 years the Concord Council has brought the Holy Family to the people of our Capital City of Concord in front on the State House at Christmas, and they look forward to keeping the tradition for many more.
Great events and community outreach coming from Concord Council 112, lead by Grand Knight, Chuck McGee and his Brother Knights.
Worthy Sir Knights and Brothers all,
As we progress through the fraternal year, we look at new and additional ways to build upon our successes within the 4th Degree, District of New Hampshire.
One need that continues to be extremely valuable, as I have expanded the number of 4th Degrees, is in the capacity of that of a team member of our ever present 4th Degree Team.
While we have Sir Knights who fill important roles, we are looking to fill in backup positions, either in speaking roles or in technical positions with sound and setup.
I ask for you to consider this calling, and your ability to assist in the expansion of the 4th Degree. If presenting in a speaking capacity is your calling, we’d love to hear from you. If you have the desire to learn the technical side of the team, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
We look forward to your positive response.

Worthy Sir Knights and Brothers all,
Please find attached my latest announcement on our upcoming 4th Degree to be held at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in the Queen City of Manchester, NH.
I am excited that after having held a very well attended Degree in Whitefield, to be able to bring the next opportunity to more Brother Knights, that they may be able to continue their growth within the Order, by experiencing the Patriotic Degree for themselves.
On September 30th, a new Sir Knight was overheard saying that he hadn't intended on attaining his 4th Degree, feeling that it wouldn't be much different than what he experienced in his previous Degrees. "Not so ..." he said. "I'm so glad that I took the time to experience the 4th Degree ... and with my family, too".
You've always wanted to be a Sir Knight. Now is your chance to do so.
Please spread the below packet and information amongst your Brother Knights, so that they too may experience this chance of a lifetime.

In 1493, Christopher Columbus wrote a letter that would change the landscape of the modern world. “I sailed to the Indies with the fleet that the illustrious King and Queen, our sovereigns, gave me, where I discovered a great many islands, inhabited by numberless people,” he wrote after his return to Europe to royal treasurer Luis de Santángel. “Of all, I have taken possession for their Highnesses.”
Original letter from Columbus announcing ‘discovery’ of America goes on sale for first time The explorer is widely thought of as an exploiter today, and didn’t know east from west. But a version of his boastful missive is expected to fetch up to £1.2m at auction
We are proud to have exemplified 22 candidates into the patriotic 4th Degree, today. This historic Degree in Whitefield, NH, at St. Matthew Church of Gate of Heaven Parish, had members of the Knights of Columbus Degree Team, gather from various ends of the state, to elevate Brother Knights from the North Country. Thank you to all of those who contributed to the days success, including Jolene Camley, wife of District Master, Glenn Camley, who held a Ladies program, beneficial to Whitefield community Veterans.

The world lost an incredible young man, this week.
Ian Pierce, a member of the Knights of Columbus in the Claremont, NH area, passed away from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
A few of us met Ian when he was exemplified a 4th Degree Sir Knight in Rochester, in June. His Brother Knights who had accompanied him to the Degree, all older gentleman, couldn’t say enough about him. We all joked, and he laughed when I warned him that his dedication to and work within the Knights of Columbus, was going to get him elected to an officer position and up to the State level in no time at all. He seemed to suggest “bring it on, I’m ready”.
As Jolene and I grow older, we do so understanding that we’ll be attending a lot of funerals and saying goodbye to a lot of family and friends. I’ve always said, “God has a Plan”, however, it gets harder and harder when that Plan includes bringing Home an individual, whose promise and drive for dedication to his community was limitless.
Now, that far reaching support truly is limitless, as Ian experiences everlasting life. The shoes will be hard to fill.

Great work coming out of Laconia Knights of Columbus Council 428
To those of you whom were blessed with the opportunity to know and share the life of Rhode Island Past State Deputy of the Knights of Columbus, James Gilcreast, I share the sad news of his passing this week.
James and I not only share the honor of having served our States in the position of State Deputy, but we are privileged to be called to serve the Catholic Church in The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, under the protection of the Holy Sea.
Jim was a kind and warm welcoming soul, an exceptional ceremonialist, filled with knowledge beyond his years, and exuding the love of God.
He will be missed, and in knowing him … the honor was mine.
