His Envoys is a gospel quartet from Pleasant Hill, California. Our music expresses our journey as fo It was a divinely inspired moment. Each time is worship.
After a church choir practice in April, 1997, Harold grabbed Jerry, and Al, Charles and proposed we see what we sounded like together. Our history unveils His plan. We began learning Christmas music, primarily a ca****la. Al's wife, Kathy, would play the piano for a few songs. We met each week and learned enough songs for entire programs, which we shared with churches in Northern California. Beyon
d our music, we found friendship and comradery as we experienced ministry and life's joys and sorrows together. In 2002, we invited Victor Valenzuela to join us as accompanist and soloist. You will enjoy his baritone on our first CD, "Daystar". Victor arranged several songs for us. We also joined Milton Wheeler's Bay Area Men's Chorus in 2002. Where possible, BAMC's concerts include selections with His Envoys. After Victor moved from our area we couldn't see how he could be replaced, but God had a plan. Bay Area Men's Chorus had a worship service concert at Burlingame, California. There, we noticed a pianist of exceptional talent. Following the service Al introduced himself. Ask for the story sometime. It is one of the many moments we have seen God's guiding hand as we have served Him. With the addition of Ga***rd Garcia, we've enjoyed musical ministry together for a decade. You'll hear Ga***rd's piano and voice in our second CD, "Grace Notes". Al Vanderberg sings second tenor and has enjoyed singing in quartets most of his life. Jerry Smith has lent his bass to various groups over the years. One of his favorites was as a member of The Messengers at Walla Walla College. We view our baritone, Elder Harold Eslinger, as the glue that binds us. Harold has retired several times as a pastor, and once as a Naval Chaplain. He's enjoyed singing in quartets since high school. Everywhere we travel, Harold meets former parishioners. Charles Wolfkill, our first tenor, discovered singing in grade school with Robert Tan. At one point, a student teacher told him he couldn't go down, so he'd better go up! Together, we enjoy sharing our love for Christ. If you have an opportunity to join us, we pray you will experience God's presence. We've sung for fundraisers, birthday parties, political meetings. We've sung for loved ones on their death bed. We've sung for funerals and weddings. Our aim is to lift our voices together with the redeemed in a grand reunion with our Savior. Join us!
