WITH THE TERRIBLE NEWS FROM JAPAN, WE PRESENT A POST ABOUT THE INCREDIBLE WAJIMA EXPRESS - A SELF-TAUGHT ENVIRONMENT IN THE HEART OF THE CITY OF WAJIMA - AND THE EPICENTRE OF THE RECENT EARTHQUAKE.

THE CREATOR, WHOSE NAME IS UNKNOWN TO US, HAS FASHIONED A PROTEST AGAINST (OR PERHAPS FOR) A SHINKANZEN TRAIN CONNECTION TO THE MAINLAND.

STAFFED BY MANNEQUINS, DECORATED IN PRIMARY COLOURS, CURATED WITH THRIFT STORE PAINTINGS AND ACTIVATED BY A WATER FEATURE OF CLASSICAL OUTSIDERIST TENDENCIES, THE WAJIMA EXPRESS IS A VISUAL EXPLOSION.

WE HOPE IT REMAINS INTACT. WE WISH ITS MAKER, AND ALL RESIDENTS OF THE REGION, BETTER DAYS AHEAD; AND TO ALL, A HAPPY, HEALTHY AND SAFE 2024.

IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS THAT WE MOURN THE PASSING OF PUT FRIEND AND MENTOR, THE ARTIST HERVÉ TELEMAQUE.

WE WERE HONOURED TO WELCOME HERVÉ TO THE GALLERY LAST YEAR TO SEE - FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME - THE ORIGINAL ARTWORK BY HECTOR HYPPOLITE WHICH HAD INSPIRED HIS OWN MONUMENTAL WORK, « LE VOYAGE D’HECTOR HYPPOLITE EN AFRIQUE ».

TO YOUR MEMORY, TONIUR FRIENDSHIP AND TO THE MIGHTY LEGACY OF HAITIAN VISUAL CULTURE.

THE MUSEUM OF EVERYTHING BIDS ADIEU TO ITS MOST ESTEEMED RACONTEUR, COLLAGIST AND MOVIE-STILLS DIRECTOR, ION BÂRLĂDEANU.

THE SATIRICAL ARTIST FOUND FAME ON THE STREETS OF BUCHAREST FOR HIS COMEDIC TAKE-DOWNS OF AUTHORITY AND FAME. HE WENT ON TO MEET THE VERY MOVIE STARS WHOSE FEATURES HE CUT FROM THE ROMANIAN GLOSSIES.

WE REMEMBER HIM WITH GREAT FONDNESS AND FOR THE MYRIAD OF PROJECTS IN WHICH HE ALWAYS PAID A CENTRAL ROLE.
