Day 31: Farm
I always feel like the last one is weak - likely because I’m ready to be finished. This one is no exception, but I did it! I finished!
Day 30: Gear
I like the Van Gogh effect of the swirls.
Day 29: Uh-Oh
How my nerves feel some days.
Day 28: Camping
This was a failure. I did one more spray and my mask moved and the whole thing fell apart.
Day 27: Snack
Originally sketched almonds, but they looked like sunflower seeds, so peanuts it is!
Day 26: Ego
My first thought when I saw this prompt was Anton Ego from Pixar’s Ratatouille. He’s probably judging the donut I just posted!
Day 25: Tempting
Can you tell I’m hungry?
Day 24: Fairy
Who doesn’t love the Fairy Godmother from Shrek 2? I need a hero…!!
Day 23: Bo**er
I couldn’t draw Ren without drawing Stimpy!
**er
Day 22: Heist
An art heist.
Day 21: Bad Dog
This show was hilarious!
Day 20: Bluff
One of those words where the more you say it, the stranger it sounds.
Day 19: Ponytail
Day 18: Scrape
Ewwwwww…..
Day 17: Salty
Not happy with anything about this drawing, so I’m not finishing it.
Day 16: Fowl
I have to watch this movie again!
Day 15: Armadillo
Me: 🎶Armadillos, Armadillos… Armadillos 🎶
Everyone: It’s Amadeus.
Me: Oh, oh, oh, Armadillos!
Day 14: Empty
Ignore the awful perspective on this piece - too tired for proper perspective!
Day 13: Kind
How you treat animals is all I need to know about you.
Day 12: Forget
Hi, this is… um…. Sorry, my memory isn’t the greatest. Hi!
Working at Pixar would be one of my dream jobs. Just throwing it out there! It’s not the first time I’ve drawn Pixar characters. (And won’t be the last!) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1wp8cCJ7IT/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
Day 11: Eagle
This is a Philippine eagle. It looks more fierce than this, but after I sketched it out, it had a personality, so I left it.
Day 10: Crabby
I would not want to cross Lucy!
Day 9: Nest
We always had to check for hornets’ nests near the back door of my Mom’s house.
Day 8: Match
I remember being very good at this matching game! I’m not pleased with the quality of this piece. It’s days like today that I can’t help comparing my art to others I see. But, that’s what I like about this challenge - it forces you to do work every day, and you have to share it, no matter the outcome.
Day 7: Trip
You know me; I love animation, so when I saw this prompt, my mind went to Laika’s Missing Link, where they go on an adventurous trip. This isn’t the first time I’ve drawn one of their characters for Inktober (https://www.instagram.com/p/B3xsipIA_gj/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link).
Their next film is something I’m excited about. I would love to work there! (I’ve been told many times I have great patience, so I’d be perfect at animating one of their movies!)
Day 6: Bouquet
It’s supposed to be a bouquet of lavender, but I’m not sure it looks like it.
Day 5: Flame
I always enjoy seeing these old lamps at antique stores. I think next year I will find some brown ink for a sepia effect to my images! I should have corrected my symmetry mistake before inking it, but I was short on time!
Day 4: Scallop
I didn’t do any ink washes the last time I did Inktober, so I’m playing with it this time around. I’m liking the effect - it’s making me want to try watercolours again!
Day 3: Bat
Three animals in a row. Is there a theme to my sketchbook this year? No, there isn’t.
Day 2: Scurry
I read a web comic by MacSmithArt, about a colony of mice that struggle to survive a winter. The artwork is amazing, (my drawing doesn’t do it justice!) and I really enjoyed it. I recommend checking it out: https://www.scurrycomic.com/
