Good to be home after the DSC Convention, time to follow up on inquiries, finally sign off on my book (very exciting!!!), have some days on the lake with our girls and scout a few Otago stags before heading back over for SCI Nashville and the Salt Lake show.

DSC was a great time, caught up with many NZPHGA members at the show and over dinner and drinks.

I have quite a story of a marathon effort of getting out of Dallas / Fort Worth airport. Houston had snow conditions which badly disrupted flights, to add to the mayhem at DFW there was an emergency and we were thrown out of the airport twice into minus 15 degrees! One for you John and the NZPHGA Scope magazine.

NZPHGA - Setting the Standard for guided hunting in New Zealand

The NZPHGA is an voluntary organisation of commercial hunting guides operating primarily in New Zealand, dedicated to providing a professional and safe experience for local and visiting hunters.

The members are expected to demonstrate a high level of hunting expertise and must be fully conversant in the safety aspects of hunting in the New Zealand environment. Each new applicant for membership is required to submit a resume of his or her abilities and experience. Every membership application is assessed by the NZPHGA Executive prior to acceptance.

Additionally, membership maybe denied or withheld should the Executive feel that the applicant was not of suitable standing or experience to represent the guiding industry.

The NZPHGA has developed a comprehensive guide training course, the Professional Hunter Academy (PHA), in conjunction with an Occupational Health and Safety Management System. All codes and standards are under regular review. Hunter clients booking with NZPHGA members can be assured that they are in the hands of competent people who have suitable skills and safety plans in place.
