Productive day today: Pre-Purchase Survey & Sea Trial aboard a 2022 NauticStar 2302 Legacy. Yep, pretty familiar with this boat too, LOL. Afternoon sea trial aboard a 2005 Cruisers 320 Express which was a boat I initially surveyed in April.

Pre-Purchase Survey and Sea Trial aboard a 2016 NauticStar 22 XS. This boat is equipped with a trolling motor, hydraulic anchor and a huge lithium battery. I guess you could say I'm pretty familiar with this make and model.

Do your bilges look like this? Condition & Value Survey aboard a "new" 1977 Chris Craft 30 Sportsman. Stay tuned for the sea trial tomorrow!

General inspection and appraisal aboard a 1984 Sportcraft 270 Sport Fisherman. Stringers are decent, appear to have been replaced at some point in the past. Some fresh updates and maintenance have this boat ready for the Fall perch season. The boat will be on the market soon and located at Channel Grove.

Serving repeat customers speaks volumes to me. This is the 3rd deal I have been involved with for this buyer. Condition & Value Survey aboard a 1997 Sea Ray 370 Express from Monday. I've been seeing some bad stringers and bulkheads on this model, but this particular one was all good.

Why do I have to have a "NO OIL DISCHARGE" placard on my 26 foot boat with 4-stroke outboard engines? I get asked this at least once a year. Yes, CFR 155 may have been written prior to 4 stroke outboard engines, but still has valuable merit. CFR section 115 covers ALL hazardous material pollution, including gasoline and anything else you may haves stored on your boat and in your bilge compartments. Displaying the placard is easy and relatively inexpensive.

Condition & Value Survey today aboard this gorgeous 2008 Regulator 32FS. Impeccably maintained. This was a near perfect survey except for a Lake Erie water snake appearing from one of the outboard engines. Shout out to the hoist crew for a timely haul-out.

Pre-Purchase Survey and Sea Trial today aboard a 2006 Silverton 38 Convertible. The fit and finish of this boat was a pleasant surprise. Always a pleasure working with the guys at Catawba Yacht Sales. Shout out to the Son Rise yard crew for a timely launch.

My customer requested a structural inspection only, but I had to comment on the damaged, leaky stern drive, questionable shift cable boot and the hole that was barely sealed by a thin layer of caulk.

Damage inspection this morning in Cleveland, concerning a 1996 Mako 22 Center Console. Amazing how stress is transferred through the bottom of the hull. More damage may be discovered once the interior is opened up a bit more.

Condition & Value Survey aboard this 2020 Hatteras GT45X this morning. Very impressive engine room.

Classic wood Egg Harbor sighted at Son Rise Marina today. She was standing tall in pristine condition. That is a labor of love right there! Can anyone tell me what year, length, and model? I don't have those answers, LOL. Ted Patrick ?

Pre-Purchase Survey and Sea Trial aboard an exceptionally nice 2002 Sea Ray 380 Sundancer. Shout out to the Hoty Marine - Son Rise Marina hoist crew for a timely haul-out to accommodate our time frame. Always a pleasure working with Craig Graham of Catawba Yacht Sales.

Beautiful, but hot day for a Pre-Purchase Survey and Sea Trial aboard this 1997 Tiara 2900 Open. I managed to track down a chronic leak on this boat that was causing water to accumulate on the teak floor near the refrigerator. It ended up being a faulty pressure relief valve on the hot water heater that was located under the starboard dinette. Of course it only leaked when the fresh water pump was powered ON, but the owner rarely used the fresh water system. The buyers were very pleased to have solved this issue. Shout out to the hoist crew at Bass Haven for awesome service!

Here is a great example of catching a finding while going through my photos. I'm finishing up a report from Wednesday and found a bad air conditioner intake hose. This was tough to see and thankfully showed up in 1 of the 300 photos I took.

Pre-Purchase Survey and Sea Trial with Craig Graham of Catawba Yacht Sales. This boat showed very nice with only about 400 hours on the 480 hp Volvo diesels. Shout out to the crew at CIC for a timely haul out during their lunch break! And always great working with Tom Hill of T-Diesel!

Pre-Purchase Survey and Sea Trial today aboard a 2020 NauticStar 220 XS. This is basically the same boat that we own, so definitely very familiar to me. Extremely clean boat and well-prepared by South Shore Marine. Only 100 hours on the Yamaha 200.

Some highlights from last week. Allergies and a cold slowed me down a bit, but hopefully starting to feel a bit better this week.

I've been a little lazy posting to Facebook lately, but here's a highlight from last week. In addition to a rotted-out waste tank, the appearance of having sunk pretty well soured the deal on an older Mainship.

Today, I had a sea trial on the Robalo R242, followed by a Pre-Purchase Survey aboard a 2001 Sea Ray 290 Amberjack. This generation of Sea Ray Amberjack is the most popular boat I've surveyed. This is the 12th 290 Amberjack that I've surveyed.

Late 90's Tiaras: The scupper drains are becoming an issue. Lack of proper bedding and the bedding has failed. In this extreme case, water has intruded into the coring of the transom and has wrapped around to the hull sides. Large zones of wet moisture readings were identified and areas of delamination as well. In the 2nd and 3rd photos, you can see that the installation of the scupper was pretty rough from the Tiara factory.

Tuesday survey aboard a 2017 Robalo R242 center console. Great boat and survey.

I thought it was highly unusual that this Tiara 3100 Open didn't have the anchor windlass option. It caught my buyer by surprise and I could tell he briefly was having second thoughts. It looks strange without a windlass.

Today, I revisited a 2004 Sea Ray 340 Sundancer I surveyed a year ago for a customer that ultimately passed on the deal. Today's customer was happy and is up to the challenge of providing some TLC for this one.

Spectacular day for a Pre-Purchase Survey and Sea Trial aboard this 1998 Tiara 3100 Open. This boat has a beautiful installation of new Garmin electronics and newer canvas. The buyer got a good one here!
