A Biafran US-Based Acknowledges IPOB's State Actor Role, Says IPOB Now Government Of The Eastern Region Of Nigeria

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is a peaceful, nonviolent Self-determination movement, formed by it's leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, around 2012. Advocating for the exit of the Eastern region and the establishment of an independent Biafra, from Nigeria through a United Nation supervised referendum.

Over the years, IPOB's non-violent modus operandi towards Biafra Restoration has drawn criticisms and concerns from various quarters within and outside Nigeria. However, within the confines of the Eastern region of Nigeria, also called Biafraland, IPOB plays a complex role, ranging from undertaking initiatives, ideas and implementing policies considered to bring positive contributions to the region and also making vital decisions for the overall betterment of the entire Eastern region.

Some of the change-oriented actions and policies that earned IPOB her state actor role and authority include:

1: Filling The Void On Security Of The Eastern Region.

One of the most debated aspects of IPOB's activities, is its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN); a vigilante group formed by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu; charged with flushing out marauding Fulani herdsmen terrorists encroaching into the Eastern region through the forests and bushes; maiming and killing farmers and innocent residents of the region, as well as securing the safety of the region from any threat of terrorism attack by external aggressors.

With the emergence of ESN, IPOB earned itself a state actor position in the region, despite the various calls on the political leaders of the region to float a regional security outfit to wade off the terrorists herdsmen massacring innocent people in the region. Their failure and politicizing of the security of their people by the political leaders of the region, especially the 5 Southeast governors, opened the door for a nongovernmental actor to fill the gap.

The Nigerian government often accuses ESN of violent activities, labeling them as terrorist group. However, many residents of the region argue that ESN fills a security void deliberately left unattended by the Nigerian government and security agencies. Decades of neglect of the security of the people in the Southeast led to the rise in kidnappings and violence activities by criminal gangs. In some communities, ESN presence is seen as a deterrent to such terrorist activity. The people of the region view IPOB as a government of the people, for the people and by the people themselves with a massive support and high compliance to IPOB directives.

2: The DOS: A Sophisticated Leadership Structure.

It is important to acknowledge the complexities surrounding IPOB leadership structure. Their rhetoric can be inflammatory, and their methods has never for once resulted in violence. IPOB is a well identified peaceful movement in various parts of the world, registered in many countries in Africa, Europe, America and Asian continents without any indictment of violent activities.

The group's leadership structure is opaque, such that one can not pe*****te through it, to talk of bringing it down. At various false flag operations carried out by detractors and agent provocateurs recruited by the Nigerian government against IPOB, have continued to be futile to bring IPOB leadership down to the mud.

However, violent activities were been indiscriminately leveled on ESN by the Nigerian government and security agencies especially the Nigerian Army, which were still proven null and void as IPOB continues to maintain it's peaceful agitation for referendum to have a sovereign state of Biafra.

This is made possible due to the leadership structure, where best think-tanks were assembled for administrative and governance purposes. These group of men and women of impeccable characters are the reason why the state actor position attained by IPOB has been carefully managed and not abused in the last 10 years The leadership of IPOB serve as the fulcrum to the positive changes in the Eastern region.

3: Regional Development Catalyst.

Beyond security of the region, IPOB engages in developmental policies and projects. As a state actor in the region, IPOB have attracted and contributed to the compliance, completion and startup of various abandoned, new projects in the region by Federal Government, State governments and local and foreign investors.

IPOB singlehandedly secured the forests from Fulani herdsmen terrorists, encouraged farmers in the region to go back to farming as well as improved on the food security of the region. A void left for over 40 years since after the Biafran genocide.

Recently, IPOB embarked on a vital policy action to electrify the region inorder to boost and attract industrial growth and development into the region. This is evident through their ongoing campaigns for the withdrawal and removal of incompetent, monopolistic Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, from the region. This policy action is best understood from the positive perspective aimed at ensuring institutions charged with providing social amenities to the people of the region are held accountable and charged to provide their services to the public.

These actions address the very real needs of a region grappling with political malfunction and infrastructural challenges. To many residents in the region, these efforts demonstrate a commitment to improving lives – a commitment they over years seen that the Nigerian government and their controlled Eastern governors lack. IPOB state actor role is borne out of necessity.

4: Promoting Igbo Cultural Values And Preservation.

IPOB actively promotes Igbo cultural values Through organizing festivals, sponsoring educational programs, and advocating for the inclusion of Igbo language studies in schools in the region. Through IPOB's campaign of back to root, spread through several sponsored Radio Biafra Broadcasts, a sense of identity and self-esteem were reengineered into the psyche of many Youths in the region. This however, led to many in the region embracing the Igbo cosmology and spirituality. In a globalized world, cultural preservation is an ongoing struggle, and IPOB's efforts resonate with those who fear the dilution of Igbo identity. Hence, IPOB using her state actor role, generated massive interest into culture consciousness now spreading across quarters in the region.

5: A Complex Reality

Until the restoration of Biafra, IPOB remains a major stakeholder in the affairs of the Eastern region. This reality may not go down well with some individuals and institutions, however, it is proven that when the desirable is not available, then the available becomes desirable. IPOB occupies this void position left by the Nigerian government and the governments in the region. While their methods seem to bring developments into the region, they undertake initiatives that many residents see as positive catalysts. Ultimately, the group's future hinges on its ability to embrace non-violent means and contribute to a more democratic and prosperous sovereign state of Biafra, whether as part of the contentious Nigeria or in a truly independent and sovereign Biafra. Therefore, it doesn't matter how long it takes for anyone to deny the complex reality in Eastern region, IPOB have come to stay.

The difference is clear; IPOB is the people and the people are IPOB. A government of the people by the people and for the betterment of the people. It is empirically obvious that the people are with this government, judging from the just concluded 30th May, Biafra Heroes Day anniversary Sit-at-home, there are no second thoughts, IPOB is moving forward everyday and they will definitely get to their destination. It's just a matter time. The Nigerian government should stop being blinded with delusions and be bold to acknowledge this fact. Dialogue with this movement and conduct referendum for their peaceful exit. This is candidly wise to do.

The Noble family and movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by the great leader, Mazi Nnamdi Okwu Kanu condemn the order from the Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the Nigeria soldiers to kill IPOB members and Biafrans in retaliation to the slained soldiers in Aba, Abia State. Through such a reckless order, the Nigerian president has given approval for another genocide against Ndigbo.

Once again, we publicly declare that IPOB is not responsible for the attack and the killing of the soldiers in Aba. We have equally condemned the barbaric murder of the soldiers on the sacred day of Biafra Heroes Day. The hasty manner in which the Nigerian government and its murderous military pinned the killing of the soldiers on IPOB without any investigation shows that it was a premeditated plan to blackmail IPOB and Ndigbo. It is obvious that the killing of the soldiers was sponsored to blackmail IPOB and perhaps used as an opportunity to scuttle the development strides being made in Abia State by their governor in Aba and around the state.
IPOB demands open and independent investigation into the murder of the soldiers to fish out the real culprits.

The statement credited to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordering the Nigeria Military to invade Abia State to kill innocent IPOB members and to go after innocent people without setting up an investigation panel shows a deep seated level of hatred and bigotry against Ndigbo. It is pathetic that a president of a country will encourage genocide of an ethnic group whom he has sworn an oath to protect. President Bola Tinubu has not hidden his hatred against Ndigbo. His government discontinued the case against Oduduwa Republic Activist Sunday Ighoho, dropped a case against Omoyele Sowore, dropped charges against confirmed drug dealer and fraudster ASP Abba Kyari, and lastly has dropped charges against a confirmed Fulani Miyetti Allah terrorists leader, Bello Bodejo. President Tinubu dropped charges and freed Yorubas and Fulanis without publicizing them, but have vehemently refused to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu even after the Appeal Court has discharged and acquitted our leader. President Tinubu has encouraged the economic sabotage of Igbo businesses in Lagos State and Abuja since he assumed office.

The latest order from President Tinubu to the Nigerian Army to slaughter Ndigbo in retaliation in what could be likened to a State masterminded attack and assassination of soldiers at Aba is a ploy to distract attention from the illegal and unjust detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

The Nigerian government doesn't want people to question the rationale behind the continuous detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu after discharging other similar high-profile cases in Nigeria.
The hatred and hidden evil agenda against the East /Ndi Igbo by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his APC government of Nigerian state has become very clear through what happened in Aba on the 30th May, 2024 which is an orchestrated, designed, and intended to create an avenue to slow down the progress of development in Abia state.

The wife of former Vice President of defunct Biafra Republic, Mrs. Josephine Philip Efiong is dead.

Her husband, General Philip Efiong was the second in command to General Chukwuma Ojukwu who was the President of Biafra Republic during the bloody Biafran Nigerian civil war.

The civil war lasted from July 1967 – 15 January 1970 with over 3 million civilians killed in the old Eastern region.

However, NewsBand gathered that Josephine Philip Efiong died in Uyo, the capital of Akwa-Ibom State on Tuesday at the age of 89.

A familiar source who confirmed the death said, “We have lost Mrs. Josephine Philip Efiong; the widow of the late General Philip Efiong, the last leader of the Republic of Biafra. She died on 21 May 2024 at Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.

“She would have been 89 on June 29.”

The global family and movement of the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by the resolute and formidable leader, Mazi Nnamdi KANU condemns the Fulani terrorists attacks on the peaceful Nimbo community in Uzo-Uwani LGA of Enugu State in Biafra land which left many dead and others severely wounded. The barbaric Fulani jihadists masquerading as herdsmen went into a peaceful community with assault rifles and killed defenceless men, women and children without provocations.

IPOB blames the Fulani terrorists attack at Uzo-Uwani in Enugu State on Governor, Barr. Peter Mba. IPOB has warned Dr. Peter Mba severally severely against his evil romance with Leaders of Fulani herdsmen who want the Governor to allocate land to them for Fulani settlements. His romance with the terrorists emboldened them to launch a terrorist attack and killed over 10 persons in his State to test his loyalty. As expected, the Fulani puppet, Governor Mba did not mention the Fulani herdsmen as the attackers during his hypocritic visit to the attacked community let alone call for their arrest. His political ambition has beclouded his conscience. The Governor's cowardice statement on the murderous attack in his own Enugu State is an endorsement to the Fulani terrorists to lunch further attacks. But IPOB and ESN will resist both Governor Peter Mba, his Fulani Masters, and their terrorists masked as herdsmen from turning Enugu State into a killing field. Peter Mba's eight(8) year governorship ambition must not become human sacrifice of the lives of Enugu citizens. Well meaning citizens of Enugu and Ndigbo in general must caution Peter Mba not to surrender Enugu citizens to the slaughter house of jihadists because of his political ambition.

Similarly, Northern Elders Forum (NEF) must be held responsible for the Fulani terrorists attack in Enugu State. The evil men in NEF were the ones that sent their foot soldiers called herdsmen to attack Enugu State to justify the false alarm they raised last week that IPOB-ESN are killing Northerners living in Biafra or the Eastern Region. The outcry of terrorist sponsors in NEF was an open invitation to the Fulani terrorists masquerading as herdsmen to attack Igboland in reprisal. Northern Elders Forum message to Biafrans is clear. ESN will reply to their message in our own way at our own time.

IPOB sympathizes with the victims of the Fulani terrorists attack and advises them to continue to be on guard and to stop fraternizing with the Fulanis in their communities. Enugu State citizens should mobilize themselves for self-defense because their Governor and the Nigeria Security Forces are working with the Fulani terrorists to kill and forcefully occupy their ancestral land. ESN will be of help if provided with timely and accurate information about the terrorists' movements. ESN can be contacted via appropriate channels or via IPOB inquiry lines available online.

For those who don't know, the reason the Federal Government of animal kingdom called Nigeria and some Eastern politicians are still detaining Mazi Nnamdi Kanu (MNK) is to buy time to create Fulani settlements in the Southeast. They know that if MNK is around, this Fulani nonsense would have NEVER continued. But as long as IPOB-ESN is still around their fulanization agenda will be resisted and completely frustrated. Those who think that keeping Mazi Nnamdi Kanu away will favour their agenda are mistaken because IPOB volunteers and ESN will ensure that no Fulani settlement will be established in any part of Biafra Land.
Fulani terrorists nicknamed herdsmen and their sponsors must understand that IPOB never dies and will never die until Biafra is restored as a sovereign and independent nation.

Enugwu Stakeholders should join IPOB to warn Dr. Peter Mba and his government not to cede any inch of Enugu land to Fulani terrorists for whatever purpose. His governorship ambition does not worth the lives and security of Enugwu people. Governor Peter Mba should stand up as an Igbo man and defend his people from terrorists and stop behaving like an ostrich.

Her visit, following a routine memorable visit to her husband-Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at the Nigerian State Security Service (SSS) dungeon, was a gesture of profound gratitude for the tireless and often thankless services rendered to her husband.

During our meeting in Abuja, Lolo Uchechi Okwu Kanu expressed her deep appreciation to the indefatigable team, led by the erudite Prof. Mike Ozekhome SAN, for their unwavering support and the unprecedented victories achieved throughout the challenging period.

Lolo Okwu Kanu recognized the unparalleled feats accomplished by our team, which have left an indelible mark in the pursuit of justice and human rights for her husband, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

It was indeed an honour to receive Lolo Okwu Kanu's gratitude and to be reminded of the importance of standing up for justice, even in the face of adversity.
The visit offered our esteemed Lead Counsel- Prof. Mike Ozekhome, SAN, the opportunity to chronicle the trajectory of the turbulent storms we relentlessly weathered all through, towards achieving the unprecedented milestone, notwithstanding the storm of the moment. What you should know

1: IPOB leadership has withdrawn interest in the on going trials before Justice Binta Nyako at the federal High Court Abuja on the basis that Supreme Court Justices on 15th December 2023 delivered what was widely believed as a miscarriages of justice when they reversed a case due for ruling or affirmation of already landmark ruling of Appeal Court which same Supreme Court Justices admitted to as follows

1 That Mazi Nnamdi Kanu did not jump bail but escaped assassination when the military invaded his house on 14th September 2017

2 That the manner in which Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was abducted in Kenya and extraordinary renditioned to Nigeria was wrong

3 That Justice Binta Nyako shouldn't have revoked Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's bail .

4 Note that the appeal court of Nigeria in their October 13, 2022 landmark ruling put all the above vital points into consideration and based on same to discharge and acquits Mazi Nnamdi Kanu of all the frivolous charges against him and declared that mazi Nnamdi Kanu is ineligible to stand trials further in any Nigerian court

5 despite admittance and recognition of all the wrongdoings of federal government against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by Supreme Court Justices. Supreme courts reluctantly reversed a due judgment back to lower court in their ill deliverd verdict while Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is remanded back to DSS dungeon without bail against his human rights. A clear indication that the dependent Supreme Court Justices were cowed, intimidated to do the bidding of the federal government in bending Justice to favour the wish of their paymasters.

On these basis the leadership of IPOB known as Directorate of States declared their loss of confidence in the continuation of the on going shambolic trials as they have little or no better expectation of the future outcome of the case .

Note that the leadership position in withdrawing their interest is a decision taken to save the struggle and solidified their commitment to the very pursuit of total freedom of Biafra from Nigeria while standing in solidarity with our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Hence the witness of very poor court outing today February 26, 2024 ,

Today's court outing witnessed the absence of two senior advocates of Nigeria Mike Ozekhome (SAN) Chief Barrister Kanu Godwin Agabi (SAN ) and IPOB lead counsel Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor Esq leaving a high profiled case file of such nature . The case file of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at the hand of Barrister Aloy Ejimakor the family lawyer who has no record of wining any case to his credit.

While Nigeria Federal Government has engaged three senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) to take over the prosecution of mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s case .
Chief Adegboyega Awomolo as the leading SAN and he is the one who refused shaking hands with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in the court today.

But the facts remains that while Biafra should worry less is that a reliable information available has confirmed that IPOB leadership are in close monitoring of the situation in the federal high court and also in touch with our leader in regards to his health conditions but has moved on in exploring other confidential options to compel Nigeria government to discontinue the on going political persecution of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and grant him unconditional release together with Biafrans total exit from Nigeria through United Nation supervised referendum.

The global family and movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by the great and Honorable leader, Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu Kanu has rejected further Court trial of our leader in the Nigeria Court system. We stand by the judgment of the Appeals Court, which ordered that our Leader, Mazi Nnamdi KANU, not to be tried anymore in any Nigerian court, no matter what happens. The Supreme Court Judges agreed with them but lacked the courage and integrity to uphold the Appeals Court judgment. Too bad!

The public should recall that the Supreme Court Justices on December 15, 2023, sent the case of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu back to the High Court in what was referred to as a compromised judgment. The same High Court fixed February 8, 2024, to commence hearing on the unknown matter or matters. Refusing to make an appearance on that day showed that the federal government of Nigeria has no cogent reason to either prosercute Mazi Nnamdi Kanu but should unconditionally release him. We knew that any continuation of their kangaroo trial would reveal that they did not have any case against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. The wicked and corrupt Supreme Court Justices were part of the oppressors and persecutors of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Today, we know for sure that the Nigeria legal system is soely controlled by the office of the presidency. IPOB leadership has reviewed the actions of this and other lawless Nigeria governments and the corrupt judiciary of their legal system and totally stands on no further trial of our leader in the High Court or any other court.

The Federal Government of Nigeria, headed by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, knew why his Attorney General scrubbed the commencement of their appearance for the botched February 8 Abuja High Court trial against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB worldwide. No matter what they do today, we stand by "discharged and acquitted." They know very well that they have no case against him or the organization that he leads. They are just utilizing the weak and bastardized instrumentality of the law in Nigeria to detain and persecute him. NIGERIA, LET OUR LEADER GO! The wicked persecution of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and other innocent IPOB members will continue to destroy Nigeria's image locally and internationally now and into the future. President Almad Bola Tinubu has been told by many that he has to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally because self-determination is lawful domestically and internationally. President Tinubu must do the needful and stop the ethnic bigotry of the Fulani Caliphate against the Ndigbo. Moreover, the rampaging and murderous activities of the Fulani jihadists and terrorists across the country has shown that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB need to be commended not persecuted for exposing the agenda of the Jihadists, and for leading the Biafra self-determination effort to divide Nigeria in order to save lives. If not for Kanu's agitation for Biafra, the Nigeria State would have been islamised during late Mohamadu Buhari's regime. We are interested in the preservation of Biafrans from marauding terrorists jihadists. Biafra liberation is a divine project that not even the late President Mohamadu Buhari nor President Tinubu or anyone else can stop.

Our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, was illegally abducted and detained for almost 2 years between 2015 and 2017. In 2021, our leader was again abuducted, tortured, and extra ordinarily renditioned to Nigeria. For three years since 2021, our leader has again been remanded to solitary confinement in the Nigeria DSS dungeon, which adds up to 5 years of persecution. He was granted bail by the Abuja High Court in 2017. While he was still enjoying his bail, the battalions of the Nigerian murderous military invaded his home on September 14, 2017, to assassinate him. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu escaped the assassination attempt, but unfortunately, more than 28 persons, including IPOB members and Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's relatives, were assassinated in the process.

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu fled outside Nigeria for safety since the same government that granted him bail was the same government that came to assassinate him. The Federal Government not satisfied with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu being alive, used her secret security agents in collaboration with other International secret agents and went to Kenya kidnapped, tortured, and illegally detained him in a private residence for 8 days, and later extraordinarily renditioned him to Nigeria blindfolded. For almost 3 years, the Federal Government of Nigeria has illegally detained and persecuted him for championing the Biafra Self Determination movement.

Irrespective of all the judiciary rigmarole, eventually, some courageous Honorable Justices in the Nigerian Appeals Court in Abuja on October 13, 2022, delivered a landmark Judgment that history will never forget. The Court, in its ruling, discharged and acquitted Mazi Nnamdi Kanu of all the trumped-up charges based on the illegal abduction and extraordinary rendition by the Nigerian government. Instead of the Nigeria government to obey the ruling of the Court of Appeals, they decided to intimidate the honorable Justices by transferring them out of Abuja jurisdiction to different areas of the country. Later, the Nigerian government selected their own corrupt Justices for the same Court of Appeal that set aside the previous judgment that discharged our leader to ask for a stay of ex*****on of those orders. IPOB appealed to the Supreme Court to remedy the abuse of the judicial process by the federal government in selecting corrupt justices to replace the ones that they transferred. During the Supreme Court judgment, the Supreme Court acknowledged that:

1) The abduction and extraordinary rendition of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was illegal.

2) The Court acknowledged that the invasion of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's home in 2017 was an assassination attempt on his person.

3) And the court acknowledged that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu did not jump bail.

However, the heavily prejudice induced Supreme Court Justices failed to deliver an uncompromised judgment in line with the violation of the extradiction order act, which is an international crime. Instead, the compromised Supreme Court Justices transferred the case back to the High Court. This treacherous actions of referring the case back to High Court and non- appearance of the Federal Government to the High Court hearing on February 8, 2024 shows that the Nigeria Government is not interested in any legal trial of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. They understand the illegality they are engaging in. They are only punishing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu for daring to champion the Biafra Self Determination movement.

In view of the above scenarios and other considerations,the IPOB family worldwide, therefore, firmly stands on NO more court trial of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. We call on President Almad Bola Tinubu to unconditionally release our leader and other innocent IPOB members in various detention facilities across the country. No amount of illegal abduction, detention, extrajudicial killings, and forceful disappearance will stop the quest for Biafra independence and the call for a referendum. IPOB has come to restore Biafra, and it is either Biafra or Biafra. That is our oath, and so help us, GOD.
