Today, the Clermont County Board of Commissioners presented a proclamation recognizing October 2024 as Disability Employment Awareness Month. This year’s national theme, “Advancing Access and Equity”, underscores the importance of creating an inclusive workforce where people of all abilities can thrive.

We are also celebrating Marina Bolin, who works at McDonald’s in Batavia. Marina exemplifies the dedication and contributions that employees with disabilities bring to the workplace. Her hard work and positive impact serve as an inspiration to others and highlight the importance of providing equal employment opportunities.

The Board encourages all citizens, businesses, and organizations to reaffirm their commitment to fostering an environment of equal opportunity, breaking down barriers, and opening doors to employment for individuals with disabilities. By supporting this initiative, we strengthen our community and our economy.

Together, let’s celebrate the many contributions that employees with disabilities bring to the workplace and continue to promote equity and access for all.

Last week we got a call from Jake's mom asking about the progress. Jake is in his 20's and also was blessed with Down syndrome. His family is watching closely because Jake aspires to work at an ice cream store. Until then, his family is utilizing other amazing resources in our community, but there is nothing like earning a paycheck.

We can't wait to service our community in a place where every scoop makes a difference.
