Charles Olson Memorial Scholarship
The Charles Olson Memorial Scholarship exists to encourage Newton High School music students to study privately in order to cultivate a love of music.
The Charles Olson Memorial Scholarship was founded 1968 and was formed to assist Newton High School music students with the study of music. 2013 marks the 45th year that the scholarship fund has sponsored young instrumental musicians in private study. As many as twenty-two students have received scholarships from this fund in one fiscal year. In less abundant years, that number has dropped as low

Come hear the Great Plains Jazz Orchestra and the Newton High School Jazz Ensemble I this evening at 7pm in the Newton High School Auditorium. Tickets will be available at the door for a suggested donation of $12.
This concert is a fundraiser for the Charles Olson Memorial Scholarship, which provides scholarships to NHS Instrumental Music students to take private lessons and further their musical skills. This scholarship has helped hundreds of students over the years. Past scholarship recipients have gone on to study music in college, pursue careers in music, and still play in community music groups in the area. Come support this wonderful organization.
