Railroad-Daly Fire Evacuation Notices

Ravalli County Sheriff Steve Holton said Evacuation Warnings have been issued for residents of the 1700 to 2500 blocks of Skalkaho Highway due to the Railroad-Daly Fire. The warnings were issued after consultation with the Darby-Sula Ranger District of the Bitterroot National Forest. Sheriff Holton said the warnings are given in an abundance of caution with a wind event and weather conditions forecast over the next several days.
Residents in an evacuation warning status should prepare to evacuate, but no evacuation orders have been issued at this time. Residents should locate important paperwork, medications and possessions, and locations to move livestock should evacuations become necessary. People with health problems or mobility issues should consider evacuating during the warning phase.
Information will be posted on the Ravalli County Sheriff's app for smart devices as it becomes available, as well as the Ravalli County Sheriff and Discover the Bitterroot pages.

🔥 Fire Updates on the Sharrott Creek and Johson Fires 🔥

The in Stevensville is currently holding at 3,275 acres after growing by roughly 25 acres during the wind event Oct. 4. Minimal growth has been seen over the past few days as conditions have moderated due to the 0.1 inches of precipitation that occurred over the fire on Oct. 4. All growth has occurred above 7,600 feet elevation in the subalpine fir fuel type along the St. Mary’s Peak Trail on the southwest corner of the fire with the prevailing winds forcing all active fire back into the main body and limited spread. 15 personnel remain on scene and are continuing to reinforce existing containment lines. No threat to values-at-risk and existing containment lines currently exists.
In the coming days, firefighters are expecting warm, dry and breezy conditions that may result in visible smoke and small flare-ups along the southwest corner of the fire. Little to no precipitation is forecasted over the coming week and anomalously dry conditions will result in heightened fire conditions into next week. Longer burn periods are expected with increased fire activity possible late into the evenings.
*** Road, area and trail closures remain in effect for the St. Mary’s area ***

The in the East Fork is burning actively in the Swift Creek drainage. It is burning south away from the Springer Memorial Community.
The spots in the Lick Creek drainage continue to grow together, approximately 50 acres.
Crews built indirect handline from the fire’s edge to the 432 Road (East Fork Road).
Stayed tuned for more information.

The , located 20 miles east of Darby near the Ravalli and Granite County line, was staffed with 6 smoke jumpers. It was mapped at 8 acres in sub alpine fir with numerous spots. The fire was creeping and smoldering with isolated single tree torching. A helicopter performed water delivery to suppress activities. Firefighters are continuing mop-up (cleanup, extinguishing operations). This fire was considered controlled as of this morning.

Every year, Haven House provides Thanksgiving meal boxes to families in our community.

This year, things are a little tighter, and we’re reaching out to you—our amazing neighbors—who never fail to step up! 💛

While we’ve got the turkeys covered ✅, we need your help with the small, but oh-so-important things that make a Thanksgiving meal complete. These are the items that turn a meal into a feast and give families facing food insecurity something to celebrate!

We’re doing a big push before October 5th to collect as many of these items as possible: 👇

🥔 Instant Potatoes
🦃 Poultry Gravy Packets
🍮 Large Boxes of Jello
🥣 Stuffing Mixes
🍠 Canned Yams

Do you have space to add one or two of these items to your cart the next time you're at the grocery store?

A little bit goes a long way—by adding an extra box of stuffing or a can of yams, you’re not just donating food, you’re helping provide a meal to a family right here at home this Thanksgiving.

We’re beyond grateful for all the ways this community continues to rally together and ensure families get to enjoy a warm, comforting meal this holiday season.

Let’s keep the momentum going and aim to fill those boxes before October 5th! 🚀

Thanks for always being great neighbors!
