DAY 14: LIVE EVERY SECOND
For the last “portfolio” post during part 1 of this contest, I’d love to showcase some of the pieces I’ve created for a non profit near and dear to my heart-L.E.S. Live Every Second. For those of you who don’t know me or haven’t heard of the organization, it’s a NPO in Niles, IL that started in honor of my little brother Lester in 2013. Our mission is to educate on the importance of routine health check ups and primary prevention. My brother was only 27 years old when he passed away from a heart attack. Through his story, we are able to remind the community just how precious life is and how important is it to get these check ups!

One of the advantages of being a designer in the organization is having full liberties of the look & feel of our marketing pieces (and of course, with the help of the team).

LES has allowed me to create a variety of pieces from banners, design and layout program books, sponsor signage, event tickets, event shirts, table tents, promo goods, tribute videos and so much more! What you see here is only a snippet of the work we’ve done and look forward to what’s to come!

What a fun group to work with! They’re loud! They’re beautiful! They’re hilarious! They’re always so welcoming! And I warn you, you’ll get a belly ache from laughing so hard. DAY 11: COMMUNITY SAFE
When the pandemic left the world short on PPE, customized masks and surgical caps that were making! To date there have been over 6,000 masks made of which 700+ were customized. MDS wanted to help celebrate graduations, marriages, local businesses, frontliners and organizations during such a crazy time. Thank you all for being so strong—- we are in this together! In 2018, the Jara Family reunited to celebrate a beautiful Matriarch of the family. We were able to transform the amazing painting of Ate Charing by onto these shirts. What an honor to take part in such a celebration! Thank you so much Jara Family!

DAY 9 : LOVE + STRENGTH
& wanted an invitation that portrayed the beauty and richness of their cultures. With the intricately designed elephant as the symbolic representation of their love, unity, strength and the bold use of colors blue, pink and gold, we bring you the Vincent-Suarez Wedding Invitation. It opens with the main invitation as the centerpiece and the inserts in the back pocket and all brought together with a thin gold rope and a mini gold elephant pendant. We’ve also carried the theme and design elements over to the food labels used at their Betrothel or Manasammatham (in Malayalam). Thank you Jennie & Jovin choosing Mercedes Design Studio!!

DAY 8 : MILESTONES
These tiny beings grow up so fast!! Love that we were able to capture little Miss Mavery’s milestones when she turned 1️⃣! Thank you and for being so open to making her onesie be a keepsake too!! Then to sum it all up... we did a mini-photo shoot and added those pics to a thank you card to your guests!!! 💜💜💜 you all to pieces!

DAY 7: ANCHORED IN LOVE
The Cueva-Guerrero wedding set was also a really fun project to work on! The silver metallic/grey and navy combo, custom holder, and illustrations really tied in the Nautical theme all together!love that they know how to throw a good party!
