A SPECIAL MESSAGE TO BILKISU ABU
Hello Bilkisu, I'm glad to see that you have visited the Borgu Secondary School site and wanting to know the admin person behind the set up of the group. Well, I am Mr Agyeman (your former Art tutor) from Ghana. I was also the House Master for Banni House. Does my identity prop up your memory? Okay, I remember you very well as one of young, skinny and pretty girls in the school. Do you also remember that Mallam Rojee (also a teacher of BSS) liked you so much and used to tease you so much each time he saw you? Do you recall that Yakubu Abu (very artistic) liked you so much and was a good fruend of yours? I can also recollect that Mallam Rojee used to make fun of Yakubu Abu too and referred to him as a "Good for nothing boy?" Do you remember some of the following tutors; Mr Ibrahim Musa, from Borgu town (also known as Crack), Mr Bruce (French Tutor), Alhaji Jinadu, Mrs Erine (Maths Tutor), Mr Ashaolu (science teacher)? Do you also remember these students; Isaac Ozemede, Binta Karimu, Sabina Okose, the Akinwuntan's, Godwin Ezeh, Ezekiel Ajibade, Sarah Ozimede, Halimat Musa and Joseph Okoro (both sacked by Mr Okpalagu when you were in Form 2) Both joined to Wawa Sec Sch afterwards. Anyway, I could go on and on to jog your memory. The list of names can be endless.
Now, just to make aware that I seized the opportunity to use this social media with intent to bring past students together.
I wish to say that some of my precious lived memories in my life was when I at BSS, New Bussa. Memories will never fade away. I moved to live in London when I left in 1986 and I have been here since. My love to everyone who visit the site.
● I should be very grateful if you could respond, now that you have refreshed your memories. Cheerio!
THE LOSS OF GREG
I have just read about the death and burial of our honourable principal, Mr Greg Okpalagu. All teachers who worked with him and all students who schooled under his leadership will remember him as a strict disciplinarian. He was very tough with his moral values. He had no problems with those who obeyed school rules. He could easily pinpoint out the notorious students out of a population of about 1,000 students. His strict ways made him a target of hate. Whilst in Borgu Secondary School, he promoted science education and put more resources into it. Science education became a pride of Mr Okpalagu and encouraged serious students to study it. I cannot remember the exact date, possibly in 1984, some students vented their anger to protest against him by setting fire to the school's exclusive science laboratory. Everyone was destruct but he was more affected. Being a pillar of strength, he was not moved in his stance to stop promoting excellence instead mobilised to rebuild the laboratory.
Our fearless ex-principal commanded a formidable respect in the whole of Borgu town; from the Emir of Borgu, NEPA officials and among all those who knew him. I was one of his admires. I learnt a great deal from his leadership skills. I am pretty sure that all those students who hate his ways have grown up to be remorseful of their antagonistic behaviours towards him. His name will be well remembered and reign in the history books of Borgu Secondary School. May his soul rest in perfect peace!
