Rumanía 1970, dirigidos por Angelo Nicolescu se clasificaron para el mundial después de eliminar a Grecia, Suiza y Portugal. En México-70 quedaron encuadrados en un difícil grupo con Inglaterra, Brasil y Checoslovaquía. Finalmente fueron eliminados tras perder con Brasil e Inglaterra y ganar a los checoslovacos. En la foto de izquierda a derecha: Dumitrache, Dumitru, Neagu, Nunweiler, Mucanu, Lupescu, Dobrin, Santmareanu, Dinu, Raducanu y Lucescu.
